Way ahead of you, man. Done that a few times. Love Hwy 99 from Lillooet to Whistler. Hell, I love BC. Seriously looking at this

You should post in Roundel. Own any other marks?
Appreciate it. Not familiar with Roundel. Also, not sure what you mean by "own any other marks?" Typo? Did you mean cars?

Roundel is the term for the BMW emblem on the hood and trunk and other places.

My M5s gave me 24 mpg on long trips.
Yes that would be good...but ya gotta love trees....lol. As you'll be seeing a lot of those. For sure lovely trip but not gonna see the scenery you did. Plus you have like one road to choose from up here in a lot of places. Big territory but not a lot of highways where it would count more for scenery. You got it made for great roads in the USA!

Wow, absolutely an amazing trip and thanks for all the pics! I'm familiar with some of the journey and obviously everything in AZ and have taken the M850i up to Sedona but have driven/experienced the rest in prior rides. I grew up in Nogales (border town on I19 south of Tubac) and the Tubac Golf Resort has a special place in my heart as it is where the wife and I had our wedding reception.

The wife and I wanted to do Highway 1 last year but scheduling just didn't work out. Now thanks to your post I have more of a road trip in mind so thank you for the inspiration! 🥂

Thanks for your words. My cousin just loves Green Valley and Tubac.

I came down the coast all the way from Newport, OR to Dana Point just south of Newport, CA in my F10 550 in Feb 2015. It's about a thousand miles with the ocean out your window. Well, not "your" window, but the spouse's window. Little did I realize how hair raising it was for that person when the ground falls away 2,000 feet to the drink. I'm just over here hugging the centerline and having a high old time. She said never again. I came north the second time (by myself) and thought "Problem solved, just drive northbound." She'll be looking at the mountainside. It worked.

Big Sur is spectacular, but the section of Hwy 1 north out of San Francisco shouldn't be missed either. You eventually cut over the mountains to Leggett and meet up with 101. But that just means you can see the Redwoods if you are heading to Eureka. I'd love to do that section again. It should actually be an annual requirement.

My parents lived in the Green Valley area for about the last 12 years of their life. So know it well and it is a great place. I even wanted to buy my sisters out of their retirement home which was on the 9th tee box at one of the local golf courses. I just couldn't convince my wife because she said with all of the memories of my parents in that house she would just never feel right. Only downside is the town shuts down early due to all the retirees. So be prepared to eat dinner by 8:00 p.m as all the restaurants close at 9:00 p.m.

Thanks for the tip. We plan on going up/down so we'll both get to experience both views. 👍

Ironically, picking up Hwy 1 out of San Francisco is the exact plan. The reason why scheduling didn't work is our son is in San Diego so that was our 1st stop last year and we sort of spontaneously started planning extending the trip to go to San Francisco (my favorite city in CA) for a few days and then up to Big Sur.

The wife is a teacher and her school wouldn't give her the extra week off given it being unplanned, no substitute available, etc. Me I'm semi-retired and can do my job from anywhere with an Internet connection so it wouldn't have been a problem whatsoever. Moral of that story is properly plan in advance as long as the school year is underway.

Yep and I get the printed versions of the magazines through the 3-year membership subscribed to for the $1K rebate on the M850i. Would love to see this in an article in Roundel!

Absolutely epic, thank you for taking us with you on the trip.

And, I have to say. It’s probably an 8 series thing where they give you a special magic coating that keeps the car clean in the snow. It’s not offered on lesser models.

Impressive as per usual sir.

Miss the scenic western part of the country. Much more dramatic than back east.

Thanks - the car does look amazingly shiny in the snow pics. Not sure how that happened.

Went on a road trip from Long Island to Hershey park this weekend (500 miles round trip) and I gotta say there truly is something special about having a bmw on the open road like that. I wouldn't shut up the whole car ride talking about the driving dynamics and the ride quality my gf thought it was funny lol.
