I do sports in this car so it’s a sports car. Pretty simple. I don’t give a crap what YouTube geek calls it. Call it what you like.

Yeah, it’s a stamp mate. I didn’t go out looking to buy a ‘sports car’ and ended up with this one. This car is under appreciated by most that own it. I’m one of the few that take it into the realm of its limits. I’d probably have more fun in a hopped up Z4, but this is what I bought. Overpriced underwhelming, disappointing GT, non sports car. Lol. I haven’t owned many cars but this is by far my fav.

I drove porsches and corvettes and even ferrari and lambos on some occasions and i agree they are more like sports cars and more fun to drive (especially the 458) but non are really good dailys except the turbo s (but less practical and much more expensive)
So if you want a car that does it all and a fast daily with some sportiness them the M8 is one if the best no doubt
I daily mine in all weather conditions in nyc and it is really a great daily
If you want a real sports car then you should have a second car (porsche or ferrari....)

I consider my M8 GC a luxury sedan with tons of power and speed. Enough room in the back for 2 people to sit comfortably. Lots of comfort and sexy looking. Is not a sports car but can proform close to one. The best of both worlds. His main problem is the price. He should get a better paying job.

No need to convince me and I agree its just a title; and no one ever said a GT car is a lesser car in my recollection; its just different. And a GT car for 99% of one's needs are clearly enough.

I am on M8 #2 so my resume defines my love for the "GT" car

Future classic the m8 will be. The shape of the car is just beautiful. Please remember the previous 850i or the 840ci pop up lights . I do . They were not approachable when new then , model stopped ! Almost 30 years later they are still so sexy looking and much sight after .
The M8 WILL when finally production seizes be a car everyone will say " I wish I Voight one when I could ".
911 is a great piece of engineering but shape wise .....not interesting. That's my own opinion.
Most people who go for the M8 coupe especially are not track day users and they know it from the day if purchase that it is not a 911 competitive car. In Europe, we have more sweeping roads and mountains than the USA I guess , so the M8 would be a much better cost to coast missile than a 911 . That flat 6 in the 911 .....I could not take that noise for long periods of time ......yes ....sound is great for short blasts but migraine will set in very soon after a long drive .
The m8 is the opposite....softer ....and more comfortable on long journeys. ( this is only my own personal opinion ).
Depreciation wise......I have had my old Nissan patrol y60 swb 2.8td now for 28 years .....its worth more than i paid for it when it was new !
Rarity add value ...
Thanks all. 😊

I don't often pay attention to these YT people and their reviews as they often seem like they just want clicks and views. So I didn't watch this one. But after owning one of these cars for several weeks I can't see how anyone could "trash talk" this car. It is easily the best car I've ever owned from an all around POV. Mine is the M850i. And yea, these cars are expensive. But they come with tons of features and options. So for what you get, they are priced well. I doubt there is any car with similar options and features that is priced significantly less.

I'm really torn between a 2024 custom M8 convertible with CCBs, etc vs a '22 or '23 911 turbo s convertible for a weekend car. I daily drive an '18 M5. Besides the obvious price difference and having to pay way over MSRP for a lightly used 911, is it going to be worth the extra 80 to 100k for the 911's brutal acceleration, grip, and feedback? Neither would be for tracking, just weekend wine tasting and backroad fuckery.

Someone here just recently said the longer the ride in a 911, the more uncomfortable the car becomes and the drone of the motor drove him crazy. Those driving parameters also made the M8 more so his choice.

I think the answer is having one of each. I’ll either get one of them or a nice Ferrari 458, but I’ll never get rid of my M8 Cab.

I'd love to have both, but it's just not in the cards. Are there any actual data out there of real world 0-60, quarter mile time, etc for the M8 convertible? Dragy numbers? BMW always way underestimates their performance specs.

There’s no “drone” driving around a 992 at all. It’s not even loud with sport exhaust. I’ve never had issue driving a 911 for long periods of time and I’m tall.

Buy whichever you would enjoy more. 911’s are more sporty, steering feels diferent, completly different feel than M8. Both great choices.

Thanks. I will keep that in mind. In any case, I wasn't making any accusations towards this particular video. I'm just stating a fact that most bloggers have to keep content coming and going to satisfy their sponsors. In any case, I don't see how anyone can "trash" this car. Like I said, when you factor in everything it has and the performance you get, this is easily one of the best values for the dollar. I have a bunch of cars and the M850i is my favorite...definitely the one I use for DD purposes. Now if the price is too steep for someone, then they simply need to find a vehicle that has less features and options and a lower price. But I for one love features like the 4W steering, auto trunk, motorized kidney grille, ambient lighting, and the HP/TQ. For me all these makes this a phenomenal value. If I wanted something with HP and TQ but a little cheaper and without the features I mentioned then there are lots of other cars to choose from. But I came from those other cars and I have no intentions of ever going back.

Aha. . I never owned a 911. But I was just guessing it was louder instead cabin more than the M8 . The brute power and rage that the 911 gives and the nature if the engine being also behind ...I am only gussing it is less comfortable than the m8 on a long run.
Don't get me wrong.....the 911 is no bad car
But the price of new and even s/h ....it makes the M8 look a true bargain at ANY price.
Performance ....911.
Looks and luxury with power....M8.
All this is IMO . Please note.

I have had Nine 911's--- they are definitely louder inside and its due to the different engine placement and the excessive sound deadening in the M cars (especially the F9X series). I like engine noise, I want engine noise, I need it to understand my rpms and rip the car as I like to focus down the road vs using HUD to advise.

I have had/have 13 M's and Porsche is my fave brand but to your point... my ownership experiences only and needs/wants even with pricing baked in. Porsche is so heavily priced right now.

My current GTS is not my fastest car by a long shot but its the best driver on MY roads for sure. It gives me the best feedback as an operator where I feel like Im more part of the car than just in it.

I've never owned one. I assume they are more of a driver's car, but how would you rate them as a DD compared to the M8?

Honestly- my GTS with SPASM and PDCC is more comfortable. Its a taut ride for sure but the way the damper and chassis work in unison is rather incredible and a Porsche staple. My GTS and previous Turbo cars soaked up the bumps and yet were very comfortable on bad pavement.

I just finished two straight days in the M8 driving the same roads and the M8 is rougher for sure and I dont use Sport Plus EDC (just Sport). Its still a great chassis but not as good as the 992. My GTS has has less sound deadening so I feel the road more (which I like).

Now my G80X drive has a better chassis/damper feel than the M8. I compare it on the same roads and its just more enduring with less thud where you dont want it.

Granted by the time I picked up my M8 it had been about 6 months since I'd sold my M4 and I had become used to driving my X3, but I immediately noticed how stiff the M8 was even in comfort compared to what I thought I remembered the M4 being. Its not at all a complaint, just sometime I immediately noticed.
