If I could get one at MSRP, I'd think long and hard now. I'd have ordered one a few weeks ago if no ADM; I saw no reason to go for an S with the new 992, and wanted the softest S-PASM suspension (which is already stiff enough), so it had to be a base, now basically the same as an S (except less -but enough- power). I spec'ed it to $135K, but it was still relatively spartan. Freaking Porsche raised the prices 15 grand in the last 2 years, to keep the ADM money themselves, rather than dealers. I can see the logic in that, but it's just not worth that much at all IMO. It's still noisy as hell inside (road and wind noise), and not noisy enough outside, which is exactly the opposite of what most of us want. And even though it's a nice car, it feels dated, and not special at all. I know they drive really nice ( I bought a fully-loaded Cayman GTS back in 2016), but that's not enough for me, especially at those stratospheric figures. I've becoming more frugal with age, even though I could afford to pay for one, but simply don't desire it when I feel 'cheated' having to pay that much. I might be a little crazy (ha ha), but I feel am going to like an F-Type P450 RWD, LC500 RWD (no RAS), or 840i RWD (no RAS) better, since I want something more GT, and more enjoyable to road trip on. And for a lot less moolah.

Not a 911 owner but have driven a few since getting a Macan 8 years ago. I appreciate Porsches so much, my avatar is a wheel from a Panamera Turbo S e-Hybrid - an awesome car btw. IMO, the 911 is the best non-exotic high performance sports car out there, and a 992 C4S or C4GTS coupe would be my sweet spot. The Porsche dealership experience is also top notch and significantly better than the BMW experience (although leaving Porsche with a much lighter wallet after service is never fun).
And yet I got an M850. Why? Because I wanted a grand tourer, with a trunk for carrying stuff and with (somewhat useable) back seats that can fold. Wanted AWD, a 500+ hp engine, and a design style that was different. The C4S has a terrible back seat, no trunk, cost another 40-50k more, and….911’s are everywhere on the road. Now, I was not able to get everything I wanted, specifically, for the M850 price, I wanted a special interior and that’s the weakest part of the 8 series imo, and then there’s the dealership…which is ok, but really just above average. At least I still have the Macan and get to join in on Porsche events plus I get to enjoy the M850 so it’s like the best of both worlds. |

I agree - the 8 has all that. I love the car and everything it has, but want something a little less GT next time around and the 911 is about 13" shorter.

So here’s an option, just wait for the 2024 AMG GT. This car would tick all of my boxes, except for price I guess. But it sure looks special, inside and out.

I'm trying to get away from the GT cars after this one. The 8 is a gorgeous car, but I'd like something a little smaller next time around. The AMG also has that same extra long hood that the 8 has.

FWIW…
Just put $1,000 down to get on the list for a 911 Carerra 4 GTS. I’m currently #18 on the list…expecting about a two-year wait. Thankfully no ADM. This gives me more time to enjoy my M8 and something to look forward to down the road.

I’m certain I could get one sooner at another dealer if I were willing to pay ADM…but I’m not, just by my own principle. This dealer shoots straight…and respect that. I plan to buy more…next will be a Targa.

I really don't like to have back seats in my M8 convertible. By removing that space the car will be shorter and much sportier. So, my next will be a real 2 seats roadster. No AMG, no Porsche....

I've had this one for a while... I got it the day it hit the dealership. 65k miles later I still love it too much to part with it....
