painting front grille

i just stopped by a body shop and the guy there says that if he paints it, the paint will not stay on for too long(only 1 to 2 yrs). i told him that some ppl are sanding it and then paint but he says it's plastic chrome so paint will not stick to it. is this true??? for members who blacked out your grille, any problems with the paint chipping?? oh...he also said that once it gets chipped, then the paint will start peeling off??

SORRY, just noticed that i posted in the wrong section.

OBVIOUSLY THE GUY DOESNT OWN A REPUTABLE SHOP! IF HE KNEW WAT HE WAS DOING OR SAYIN HE WOULD TELL U, YES THE PAINT WILL CHIP IF U LEAVE IT EXPOSED! A KNOWLEDGABLE BODY SHOP WOULD SPRAY CLEAR OVER THE BLACK! BUT THATS IF U CAN DEAL W THE SHINYNESS! THATS THE ONLY WAY IT WILL NOT CHIP!

First off chill bro
Second, I wasnt paying attation...I was assuming that you were talking bout the grill itself because this title of the thread was “PAINTING FRONT GRILL”
You never actually said the outside crome peace on the hood, you said grill. If I order a new grill they send me the slats not the crome peace on the hood. Next time, think before you make the title to a thread.

Plus others said the same thing about buying a set of black grills in the first place. I think that a lot of people were thinking the same as me. I apologise for calling you a cheap basterd.

dood, i think everyone says painting grill or to be more correct, blacking out the grill should be better but either way, that's what i want to do.
