http://carsguide.news.com.au/story/0...-21822,00.html

An example of the matte finish paint can be seen on the recent ///M Z4 coupe

The paint on the Concept Z4 Coupe is called Glacier Silver. Very expensive stuff, I don't know how they could make it to production with a reasonable price. The Shadow Chrome used on previous M concept cars was a $20k paint from Italy.

The artical says BMW want to the be first to offer the matte finish, well they can't. AMG has been offering it for a while, but from what I hear the BMW paint has more texture to it and is more of a "3D" paint.

Well, from the article it seems that's what BMW is working hard to fix, the price and practicality of it. If they could accomplish that I'd love a matte blue car. They also say it won't be available any time soon. Sounds like they still have a few bugs to work out. Here's to hoping it's sooner rather than later.

Garage List
2011 BMW M3  [9.00]
2008 BMW 335i  [0.00]
2006 BMW 330i  [0.00]
1994 BMW 325i  [0.00]
i saw an AMG with that color at an autoshow and it looked kind of weird. i also saw the z4 m concept in person and i have to say if that color were available, i would definitely consider it.

Wonder how forgiving it would be for long term care ... you'd think since it was matte it would be easy to take care of, but I'm curious if swirls would still show up. And then there'd have to be a whole new market of polishes etc to go along with it.

I'd love a darkish matte gray color though, like a seal gray in matte.
