Would you upgrade?

I have been looking at the 35mm f1.4L for awhile now.

anyone has this glass and how you like it?

I've been thinking if I should get this 35mm f1.4 for $1400 + misc

OR

Spend $2300 to upgrade my body to a FF (5D2) from 50D, which I still love and its a great camera. I have had 50D for only about 6-7 months.

I have 17-55 f2.8 as my walk around, and this is my only EFS lens, so all my other lens are EF and have no problem if I do switch to FF.

I would love a 5D2, but I am on the borderline as to whether I $2300 need it if you know what I mean.

I am in the exact same boat right now. And, I am just as torn. I'll probably go for the body come tax time

My thoughts are

1) I am more comfortable spending $1400 on 35mm than $2400 on a hobby.

2) I would really love to have 5D2, but the extra $1000, I could just save it, just for the sake of saving it..

3) It is not exactly "waste money" on 35mm f1.4, since it is a L lens and good lens holds up their value pretty well, assuming its well-taken care of.

All of the above points leads to, save money, buy 35mm... but some part of me really wants the 5D2... ...

I have also heard that 24-70L isnt as sharp as my 17-55mm. Its very comparable, but extra pound heavier...

haha, eventually... probably. (but not at 35mm.. for a FF, I'd want the 50 f1.2!!!)

Also, not sure if I should wait for 35mm f1.4 MK2.. I been hearing its coming out.. but its NOT out yet..

The 35L will probably be upgraded pretty soon.
Another option to consider at just over half the price may be the Zeiss ZE 2/35, which has insane IQ.

That being said, the 35L is a great lens which you would not regret purchasing.

Here's a sample shot using the 24L II

damn. I had to put on shades to look at that photo!
