7/2020.25 Software Upgrade

Anyone else received this update yet? Had a module replaced at dealer last week, and this version was installed as a result. Trying to figure out all the changes. So far, noticed updates to the Voice Assistant, MAPS, a feature that rolls windows down automatically at set location(s), Android Auto, and sport display tile that shows torque and HP (although I'm not sure if that's always been there).

Looked to see if I could find a breakdown on the web, but no such luck.

I just picked my M8 Comp last week, and I tried updating, but it’s still on an older version. But it has the window feature there though.

there are several folks on the forums that have this version. it's the most recent.

I'm still on 11.2019.25 and I'm not upgrading. although folks with .35 and .55 got a notice to OTA update. my car has never received any notice to OTA. Maybe the 2019 bmw m850i are defective.
But I've seen so many problems with others on here that update.

One I haven’t seen mentioned is Apple and Google maps now work in the HUD.

Found this article which outlines some of the updates including some major enhancements to the BMW Assistant. https://www.bmwblog.com/2020/07/02/b...a-ota-updates/

What's interesting is the "Using the Connected App to transfer data" as that is already in the earlier versions, e.g., the App transfers an OTA update to the car. Thus, reading between the lines I am hoping this means the Connected App will now transfer profile data to the Connected Cloud and hence save the in-car iDrive settings, etc. That would be glorious if that truly is the case vs upgrades wiping out various iDrive profile settings.

My 2019 M850i was at the dealer for it's 12 month service. I asked for the7/2020.15 software. He asked why and I mentioned I would like to have the Android option which I understand became available on the 7/2020. He called me back and informed that the local technician at the dealership stated that my car cannot have the Android version as it lacks hardware. The basically refused to update it. They picked up and redelivered the car, so I appreciate the valet service, and I was not there in person to argue the issue. FYI

So this just goes to show you how absolutely clueless dealer SAs can be in regards to iDrive, updates, etc. When BMW announced Android Auto they specifically stated it would be available to any car with iDrive 7 as that config has the head unit and digital cockpit to enable all of the features. Case-in-point is that Azlar has a 2019 M850i with the 07/2020 release and has Android Auto.

The beauty of this forum is via what in my industry is referred to as "crowd sourcing" which translates into at times we have more information than our dealers. Sure some just are active while seeking advice on the best deal and then fade into the sunset. However, the vast majority of us contribute to the shared knowledge (aka crowd sourcing) from our experiences which makes this forum so valuable. That said an absolute "shout out" to everyone for sharing the knowledge.

Every time I bring one of our BMWs in for service, which is as rarely as possible, I end up telling the SA something he doesn't know, almost always something I've learned here. And then I have to fight through his skepticism.

(And that goes for the service manager, too.)

I had a really great SA that always listened to me, but he left the dealership. On the plus side, I now only have to drive 5 miles each way instead of 18.
