Car & Driver M8 Road Test

Just glanced and our C&D mag and saw a road test article about the M8 Competition Coupe.
Strongest stock numbers I have seen on the car from any mag. Couldn't get a link from the online version so here are a couple quick pics...

Highlights are 2.5s to 60, the 1/4mile in 10.7 at 129 mph.

Just remember C&D corrects for conditions and uses rollout... thats why the traps and zero to 60 romps are the best you have seen. This is the same car that other mags used too it appears right?

Still the times are stellar.

Good god, they have more than one of these cars in that color (see license plate)!

Agree that C&D is famous for delivering better performance numbers than anyone else but they are at least listing the roll-out times now. Was 0.2 on this one...

LOL that color is crazy wild no doubt.

Maybe its a mule and they change the plates based on states and journalists location? No idea there but this car did get 93 octane which helps- CA 91 octane just flat out eats shit.

Every time I hear Octane 91 is max one can find in CA, it baffles me! That really sucks! Apparently not so much so for the environment or peeps who are cruising in their Tesla's!

I am still nostalgic for a PCH convertible drive and that Ritz on Dana beach and Laguna beach area

You're very lucky if you live in California I am very jealous

Typically all mag test use rollout, the big advantage is probably 93 octane. When MT test a 991 turbo they had better numbers than C&D. From years of reading they generally are very similar. Octane and conditions any given day can cause a couple tenths variation.

I have found that to be different comparing the cars Ive owned: 9 M's, 11 AMG's, 2 Ferraris, Huracan, 9 Porsche's including 5 Turbo or S's, plus many others. C&D as a collective whole has produced better traps and zero to 60 romps.

I dont disagree that we can all find a few times where R&T or MT found a better time but C&D is the winner- plus they adjust their trap times too. No one has tested an M8 at 2.5 or 129 mph yet (that Ive seen).

And yes, I mentioned the 93 octane prior here as well. Anytime I want to show the best times in a car Ive owned my "go to" is C&D - Its the male enhancement magazine for cars

I have a 2.59s to 60mph under my belt without that dumbass (yes, you know who you are) 1-ft of rollout... no significant tweaks were in play('ish).

Yup, I know... hence the blatant lie and wink since we're clearly talking about stock numbers.

Still the times are stellar.
The rollout is only .2 seconds in this case though. Incredible times regardless. What the hell type of acceleration.

Co-sign this point. RC Laguna Niguel is a favorite of ours too. Probably #3 on our RC/Edition list. This may be what convinces the wife we "need" an M8C Coupe.

True, but I've seen other F90's pull 10.7x stock and do 130 MPH. 🤷🏻*♂️ I'm sure the M8C will have multiple owners doing 10.7 at 129

Couple Russians on the Dragy app have hit 2.5 seconds no rollout on the M8.

Not stock they didn't. I've personally managed a repeatable 2.59s with Dragy (no rollout) but that was tuned.
