Desert Driving Fun
To break up the COVID-19 monotony I try to make a drive a day on a "course" I've laid out that along with some freeway and street driving puts me on a rural 2-way road through the McDowell Mountain desert for about a 10 mile stretch. The PSL is 50 but I'm generally doing anywhere from 80 to 105+ on that stretch. Of course I do encounter someone doing the PSL so the first video captures the typical passing them like they are standing still.
For my favorite stretch on the road there was no impediments outside of me holding my Pixel 4 in my right hand to capture the video. Still hit 95 plus on the stretch but without holding the camera that would be 105 to 110. I've never had the need for a Gopro but ordered one this evening for further escapades in which I can keep both hands on the wheel. |

LOL as I'm not doing the helmet but rather figuring out the best way to mount the Gopro Hero8 that showed up today (have to love Amazon Prime) on the dash. I've done launches ironically on the same stretch of the road in the second video when there has been no traffic behind me. However, the fun for me is pushing the overall speed and time through the section as with each trip I'm taking the corners and winding turns harder as I get more comfortable with the car. The straight line aspects are a no-brainer, i.e., just floor it and let the car do its magic but it is the other aspects of the "course" that keep me engaged.
