Basically discontinue the 6 and M6 gran coupe, come out with a new M8 gran coupe that’s similar in size, and charge more? Gotcha!

I’m sure it’s going to be a heck of a car and I like the overall looks!

Actually this car will look exactly like this. The Gran Coupe showcases the actual production front of the new 8er.
BMW nailed the front & profile. This car is beautiful. The rear end is awkward... but it looks to me like that will be adjusted. The back end looks too outlandish to make it into production, imho. The boot lid works... just the horizontal portion of the vent-wells is not right.

In total this is a huge win... and shares some design language with the Z4 images. Someone at BMW has been very busy.

BTW gotta say the wheels BMW has been using on their concepts are insane. The 2002 Homage and now this has the sickest wheel design yet.

Saw the same wheels on an M5 comp render. Looks amazing!

SCOTT26......you say exactly. Does that include the rear and shape of the trunk lid as well or will that be different????

Dear Bayerische Motoren Werke,

Please make this your new corporate grille. This is much more elegant than the headlights awkwardly connecting to the kidneys and the overly large bulbous kidneys. I even own/owned a number of these awkward kidney cars. Please use this to death. Use it on everything. Thanks.

I dont Know why it’s taken this long for them to have a front end as aggressive as this. These car companies make me scratch my head. They would be severely stupid to not make the M8 exactly like this...aside from the door handles and mirror obviously. People want an aggressive machine like this! This thing is beautiful.

This makes the old 6 series and M6 looks like from a different age. The M8 looks futuristic, aggressive and wild! best looking M car so far

not quite exactly

Yellow lights have been used in endurance racing for decades.. and of course were employed on the M8 GTE racing in the GTLM class for the Rolex 24 hour race in February.

here is a description of the some of the race rules..

http://nasportscar.com/sportscar-rac...-championship/

"Another distinguishing feature, that’s included with both GT classes, are the yellow headlights. This is an especially handy feature, when you’re looking at the cars coming at you after dark. "

Yellow lights used to be mandatory in France, but they don't perform as well as "white" lights. Now all the cars have the white lights"

I believe the yellow lights for the cars in endurance racing is to distinguish the GT series from the sport prototypes which are much quicker for safer overtaking...

I suppose the production GC will be like this then... Funnily, I was about to tone down the front but I guess BMW had the balls to go into production with a bold looking front for this car... Not that it will help too much for aerodynamics...

Impressive render as always. One thing I don't understand is why concept cars often don't have door handles at all!

Is there any chance you could render a 2 door with the window line from the earlier concept? http://f92.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1388111

Thanks ;-)

For the GC front plugged to the 8-series concept, I am going to do it in a couple of days but someone may beat me to it...

Cheers!

I think this m8 design is a step ahead of the current crop of blob shaped 4 door coupes including the cls, panamera, a7, amg gt, etc etc. To my eye the longer hood and sharper lines just works better. It's a more modern, aggressive looking Aston Martin rapide. bmw designers finally came to work.

That is so much more sporty and elegant compared to the buck tooth look of recent other cars.

I think M8 will be in a price range that's close to Panamera turbo, let M850i and M840i do the market share jobs.
People thinking Porsches are superior? for now maybe they are but the long term I don't think so and I'm sure people at M and AMG are with me, times will tell and that brand is diluted with all those sedans and SUVs (maybe hatchbacks later). If BMW and Merc are able to make things that's as good as Porsche, why cheaper?

Anyway that M8 GC is a beast

I am a man and I actually like a conservative design with modern lines. Just too much of it and you fall under the kitsch side like Mercedes did. For me at least.

Will not buy a Mercedes anyway, the don't offer a proper anticorrosive warranty and rust like crap since are not treated as BMW or Audi. Not worth the money.
Like you, I couldn't see myself driving anything but a BMW until recently.
I've had several BMWs but the last few years I feel they lack in design innovation and driving feel.
That's why I like the way Mercedes operates, they take risks and sometimes it works very well and sometimes not. I agree with you about the interior. It's not perfect but it's a nice design that works. I also agree about the Ipads, they could have paid a bit more attention to the dash.

Hahaha did I hurt your feelings?
I am a long time Bimmer fan, but I don't have to approve with every concept.
Well in many peoples eyes that's just what Bimmers are. Not that I care much about what people think, but I've realised that other drivers tend to get agressive as soon as an agressive looking BMW (me) turns up.
Like I said earlier, to each his own, me personally I think the new v60 is beautiful inside and out.
