Back at the launch of the 4 series concept, one of the designers did an instagram live video on BMW's instagram. In the video he stated that the design language of the 4 concept will be shared with that of the Gran Coupe and i4 and said they were both going to resemble the iVisionDynamics concept. Beaver grill is here to stay... |

Tesla has the $ advantage by making their own batteries. Tesla also has by far the most established charging network.

Finally! An EV-range-competitive offering from BMW. This is great!
Now here's hoping they actually 1) build it, 2) The range is as promised, and 3) Its actually made available while the range is STILL competitive! Nice!

Just a thought about the range of the vehicle.
A lot of people sceptical but wouldn't you think that it's exactly the same relationship with any vehicle? I mean, a petrol driven car can reach a certain range depending very much on the driving style of the driver, right? So, drive it sensibly and you will have a decent range.. |

Yes and no, we have gas stations every 5 miles. Even so, my wife still can't fill up her car until the low fuel warning goes on, weekly range would matter, for her over 300 miles is what she covers in the week. And, who wants to buy a car that costs 30-40% more than a Tesla, has maybe equal or less range, and is slower 0-60. You need some sort of value equation for people to buy into the i4. Or you end up with an Audi e-tron.

And in Europe the Tesla chargers are perfect, but the public infrastructure is growing (incl. 350kw chargers). Also here the question is, if you buy the car for drag racing or using it daily. Why do people buy Porsche, if a Corvette gives more performance for the money? 0-60 by Tesla is impressive. So what? When driving an electric car it becomes quite irrelevant if the speed is just fast enough. I drive a 530e and an eGolf and I'm looking forward to an i4, iX3, Q4 eTron, etc. because of the quality. Tesla? Good drive train, definitely. Quality? No thanks. |

Indecisive Hybrids
Very excited for this model, and really hoping the specs are as they state here... I greatly prefer either full electric or full petrol to the indecisive hybrids.

However, I suspect 340d/440d and 340e/440e models are maybe more of a wish than a reality currently. With the exception of the top end cars e.g. X5 45e I've seen absolutely nothing to suggest that a higher output hybrid will be coming out i.e. 3 or 440e iperformance model; I don't even think the rumoured 540e ever made it to market, if it did it wasn't in the U.K. Secondly, whilst there was a lot of hype about BMW bringing a pair of M performance 3 series cars, nothing has been mentioned about the M340d in quite some time now... which is a shame. I hope I'm wrong, I'd love nothing more than a hybrid with a 6 cylinder ICE and tourer body (with a matching 4er coupe option), but I'm not holding my breath. |

All the talks are about the range. Yes, range is important (in face very important). I have an i3 which gives me max 120miles on Eco Pro which sucks. But what about autonomous features of this i4? So far I haven't seen any solid info on how this i4 is going to compete with Model 3 in ADAS domain...
