Oil And Battery Usage
I have a 2023 M850i with the N63B44T3 (N63TU3) engine.
I've read it's common to use a quart/liter of oil every 600 mi./1000 km., and that the main starting battery in the trunk tends to drain prematurely. I've read articles that suggest these issues are resolved in later models, but it's not clear. Does anyone know if these issues are common in the later models? |

Have a 2020 with ~49k and also haven’t had any issues. Although will have to add about 16oz of coolant every 10k miles on the dot 😁

That's odd. The service folks told me the coolant, as well as the tranny is sealed and never requires flushing of topping up. Which, in itself, is odd I thought.

I've never had any of those issues.
Biggest issue I have is I always need to refill my gas tank every few hundred miles. Must have a leaky gas tank... |

Granted I have somewhat of a garage queen 2020 M850i in service back in 12/2019 with ~16K miles on it. I've only had a low coolant once but the dealer topped it off for me. Also for the record there was quite a bit of that going on in early 2020 across the 8's delivered through Long Beach VDC as as apparently they failed to properly fill the the coolant prior to delivery.
When I got the message checked the turbo tank and it was golden. SA said it's safe to drive because of that and bring it up for a top off when I get the chance. I agree on the evaporation with the hot V especially in hot weather states but could happen anywhere. As for the oil that smells like a rumor as I've never seen a single post with oil add issues at 600 miles whatsoever. For what it's worth my 2020 has the same engine and they're hundrrds out there on the forum with 2019s (same engine) on with no oil issues. |

Transmission is definitely not sealed for life - fluid change at 5 years / 50k miles would definitely be recommended.
