Gran Coupes and dogs
I am considering a Gran Coupe but am a bit worried about driving with my dogs (two Aussies) in the back. The vents and whatnot on the rear counsel look like prime places for them to want to stand and damage the counsel. Anybody have any experience with this or any workarounds?

If you get a Dog Hammock - it's essentially a cover that connects to the front headrests and rear headrests, creating a hammock like space for the dogs while protecting the seats - it should essentially cover up the real tunnel while also protecting the interior, that should work well. If your dogs are big they may have a bit of trouble getting in with the low roofline/smaller door openings.
I have a CLS, which is similar, although I have the 3rd gen which removed the center tunnel for a 5th seat. I use the hammock for my dogs (2 shelties) and they have no trouble getting in and out.

i have one of the dog hammocks in the back of our X3MC and it works great. easy to put on and off. Would be fine in a sedan too. I have not tried it in the Alpina because that rear is so much larger would need a bigger one.

My wife drives a 2016 X6 and I bought a hammock for the back seat. We have used it a few times but admit we typically use our 2000 Land Cruiser as our dog car. We have an Australian Shepard and sometimes take my daughters Aussie with us. The Land Cruiser is the obvious option when taking the dogs to the beach or places they will pick up mud and dirt in our lovely Seattle Weather but for clean traveling, not a concern.
I have no problem taking dogs in the X6. I find Aussie dog hair cleans up easily. I also find the dog hair finds its way into both our X6 and 335i E92 even when we don't bring the dogs. The biggest issue is the drool on the windows at times but that is easy to clean as well. We do clip the nails regularly so scratching the leather seats has never been an issue either. I let my Aussie sit in the passenger seat at times in my 335i with no hammock with no issues. It is not a big deal to blow and /or vacuum the hair out. They do shed a bit. If you are a dog person, I wouldn't worry about it. Last edited by GeorgeR; 10-25-2019 at 01:45 AM.. |
