Amusing….but why?
Occasionally I am sat in the driver’s seat with the engine off waiting for my good lady (who would have guessed?). ..who carries her key in her handbag.
I can sort of understand why the car reacts to her key approaching and swapping to her profile…but what genius at BMW thought it a good idea that the driver seat goes to ‘furthest forward’ and ‘maximum height’ before going to my good lady’s seat settings? I am 6’2” and I know what’s coming as I helplessly anticipate adopting an origami position as the steering wheel and roof get closer…it is quite funny and I am sure a German engineer, known for their wacky sense of humour, somewhere is having a good chuckle at my expense….. |

That is quite funny!
I assumed the logic would be that whatever key opened the car , that is the setting the car would retain and ignore any subsequent key in proximity |

That is odd given my experience with iD6 in the wife's 2017 X5 and now due to the total loss on it from an accident her 2024 X5 as well. I'm leaving my 2020 M850i out of the mix as there is only 1 fob and driver profile, i.e., mine as the wife will never drive it.
The key (oddly pun intended) being both with iD6 and the abysmal iD8 the key that opens the driver's door rules. 7 years of the iD6 experience and now 4 weeks (yep a little too early for a quantitative answer but confident as the manual even calls it out) with iD8 the same scenario. It even happened tonight as I was driving the 2024 X5 40i with the abysmal iD8 and I unlocked the driver's door via UWB aka real comfort access using the digital key plus on my Google Pixel 7 Pro. My wife came out to the garage 10ish (didn't count but being gracious) minutes later with her fob in her purse and nothing changed. Is this an iD7 issue? |

It’s really not a problem, just funny. And corrected with a couple of taps on the screen. Maybe the next step after finger print/eye recognition/face recognition technology could be arse** recognition? ** ‘butt’ or ‘ass’ for those of you driving on the wrong side of the road. |

Dear Good Lady Seaford:
Please be on time, or leave your key on the kitchen counter, so you don’t turn Good Gentleman Seaford into a pretzel. Cheers, snowbimmer PS. …….I realize I am safely 5,000 miles away over the pole, so I am confident in saying this |

So in our two iD6 and one iD7 cars the key that unlocks any door or opens the driver door (if car is already unlocked in the garage) rules the profile settings and the other key is then passive. In fact the times I’ve had to change the profile from the driver seat is when my wife unlocks the passenger door first before I get to the car.
I wonder if there’s a setting that needs to be changed.
