850 mileage?

I know I shouldn’t care about mileage on a 525 HP car, but on my first tank of gas, I’m at 31 MPG. That’s nuts! And it’s not even broken in yet.

What kind of mileage are you folks seeing from the V8?

Yes definitely upper 20’s on the highway. But I average around 22 with shorter / city drives thrown in.

Mileage is great considering it's a V8 in a heavy car.

17 squirrelling around town. 25 on the highway, with gusts up to 28 if I go EcoPro on a boring section of freeway.

Way better than the wife's 6 cylinder X3.

I have a m550 so same engjnr and similar weights. Averaging around 32mpg (U.K.) can get around 38mpg on a regular run if gentle and as an experiment to see what I could get , I got 41.8 mpg

Obviously thirsty around town but an incredible engine and really not much more thirsty than the b58.

Is this the same V8 in the 750i?

If so color me impressed cos I drove a 2022 750Li for a week and holy shit that V8 was responsive!! Definitely the peppiest most responsive V8 I've ever driven on recent times. Made my M8 seem sluggish and lethargic at part throttle when I swapped cars back after a week.

I must have gotten low teens in gas mileage cos I sure pinned the throttle any chance I got. Was funny making the large barge feel like a peppy Miata (only going straight). Killed a whole tank of gas in a week driving about 30 miles a day

I get mid teens driving around short trips in town with my Sport Individual set to engine on Sport Plus. Low 20s with Sport Individual on the freeway but when in comfort mid 20s and Eco Pro a few more MPG but haven't driven long enough in it for a true calculation.

I've owned several B58 BMW and now an M850i. I would say my M850i with the same mix of city/highway driving as the X6 is about 25% harder on fuel.

X6 was averaging about 9.8l/100km
M850i is averaging about 12.5l/100km

Wow that V8 is definitely hands down the best feeling V8 I've had the pleasure of driving for an extended time.
I don't know how y'all can get 20+mpg in your cars. Teens would be my absolute best lol. Doesn't have the top end pull and definitely down on power compared to my M8, but for daily putzing around, it's a far more responsive engine.
My wife got an X7 for a rental for a week and came back with glowing reports of the car. She even added this would be the only gas car she would consider owning if she had to get a gas car (Teslas are ridiculously responsive). I assumed it must have been the inline 6 cos V8s are usually kinda lethargic at part throttle. Until I drove the 750i.....

To my best estimate, mine gets exactly the miles it takes until I need to refill

I suspect the answer is buried somewhere in the iDrive.

+1 Alpina's give you the best of both. All the power of an M car with all the torque coming on buttery smooth at low rpms. Not to mention a supple ride. To me, not being a track day warrior, B>M.
