MudFlaps

Anyone seen any functional/aesthetically pleasing mud flaps? Or know of any companies that make custom mudflaps for wider stances? Haven’t really seen anything via google so just wondering if anyone on here has seen something.

I haven't seen any, don't think it's something that would sell. I PPF'd the lower area behind the wheels and the rocker panels. Do you like the look of flaps or simply looking for protection?

Looking for both protection and noise reduction of the rocks hitting the panel. It only happens on roads that have a lot of loose rocks vs clean roads that been sweeped. Did your PPF reduce noise? With the wider stance I’m running, I hear more rock noise than normal. It’s not to the point that I can’t live with it but just trying to see how I can eliminate the noise while adding protection.

I've never noticed any noise....but now that you stated that I am likely going to hear it

I was thinking of running spacers for a more agressive look but decided against it for what you just pointed out.

There’s a company that makes smaller carbon fiber mud flaps called Carbon guards. They look pretty nice.

Don't see BMW listed in their product offering.

Sorry for the wrong info, that's my fault. I didn't realize that there are two places with basically the same name.

The name is The Original Carbon Guards.

I would do 10 mil ppf in the lower areas overtop regular thickness ppf. I’ve done that to mine. Easily replaced.

In case anyone is interested I bought the front and rear sets of BMW arch guards for my M8GC. These will help protect your wheel arches from stones etc. They come on the Euro models but they don't seem to sell them on North American cars for some reason. I kinda like they way they looked as well so added them to my car. I felt the extra protection was worth it. The front needed to be Automotive adhesive glued on. The rears bolts on.

Sure...I like the way they "different" Plus with eh wheel well in general getting some of the worst debris flung at it I felt they couldn't hurt. I've had 2 people ask me what they are as you don't see this much on cars in North America.
Sorry car is in storage so can't get any closer pics right now.

hey,
i have some problem here and searched for hours now to find mud flaps for my M8 but can't find anything good.

I just found this for an M8 which looks very generic:
https://www.vicrez.com/vicrez-mud-fl...2021-2022-2023

and this for an M5:
https://autotecknic.com/products/aut...-guards-f90-m5

don't know if they would fit also on an M8 or looks bad there.

Those generic ones are interesting. They have different finishes which are just vinyl wraps costing $50-135 more. May as well buy the plain ones and buy wrap for $10.

yah, but sadly i can't find any photo of them installed.
sad thing, that BMW doesn't have any solution for this out of factory.
my car looks after 20k km like sandblasted
if i repaint it now, i have to wait several weeks until i can PPF wrap it.
in the meantime i have same stone chips again......

I believe they are only used in Europe where there is a regulation that says no part of the wheel/tire can protrude outside the bodywork, for safety reasons I suppose.

I almost wish they went all the way around the wheel well. They protect the leading edge pretty well but only go in maybe, 1/4 inch. They don't really cover the worst spot which is of course the lower area nearest the road. That's where a real mud flap would help. But might look rather ugly. I happen to like the way mine look. In my case they are color matched to my black car. So they blend in not too badly. On another colored car not so sure how they would look as they come as black plastic. could be painted I suppose.
I'm noticing these type of things/flaps on more north American cars lately. Most much smaller. I think they are mostly there on these new cars as a cosmetic item more than functional.
I'm happy I bought mine. I never do a gravel road or winters so that helps huge on wear and tear.

And yes, mine came from Europe. Same with my sticker-less sun visors.
