I concur. Around 160F to play on track is rule of thumb I was told (have not tracked myself….). To back up this value, several good cars I have touched, their manuals say wait until like 148F, or 150F etc to fire up. So 160F is a good starting temp to play. I will not argue with it at all.

I have a diesel Nissan patrol and I added an egt gauge to monitor exhaust gas temps . Very good , as I can back off if the temps are high . It only takes taking your right foot off the gas for a a little to cool things down. All cars are the same but no one ever knows. The gas full peddle down should be used as like a ( boost ) button for short bursts of power. Best to treat a motor with respect . If you look after it , it will look after you 😉.
