Who has made a cheap USED ebay key work on an M8 or M850?

I think the FCC ID for our keys is N5F-ID21A.

These keys are very cheap on ebay and a modern locksmith with the smart key duplication device should be able to copy it for $30.

My stealer wants $230 to program each key and $400 for the key. That makes a key $630 + $60 tax, for a total of $690 for one key. I think these guys are wholesale rapin$ their customers.

My question is, can a USED OEM key be programed to my car?
Has anyone been able to get a dealer to reprogram a USED OEM key or a China key to their car?

I'd prefer an original key over a China version with cheap plastic.

This is a used key on ebay for $75:

This is a China Key on ebay for $50:

This is a better looking key, stated as new for $55:

As long as the chip set matches and it is in working condition you are fine. I've purchased keys like this for other makes/models. I've yet to find a locksmith that connects to the OBD2 ports to set keys up. I typically go to a performance shop to have this done they are about half the cost of dealer and you can bring your own key.

For certain models, you can do it yourself if you already have one functioning fob. I programmed a 2016 M6 fob by touching it to the key icon on the steering column and pushing some buttons. Not sure how the 8 series programming happens as I don't have access to ISTA at the moment.
