Exterior :
1. The rear badging seem out of place, almost an afterthought.
2. Wish they carried over the 6 series camera hidden in the BMW logo.

My issues with the interior :
1. Leather : There does not seem to be leather on the door pocket area, I am hoping full merino leather will cover it. For a car over $120K there needs to be full merino leather on visible surfaces.

2. Plastic buttons : Plastic buttons cannot exist at this price point. The door locks, window controls, steering wheel, HVAC controls .... The 7 has the painted metal buttons and they look great. No reason to skip on that detail for the 8 series. S class coupe interior is league's over this in the details.

3. If BMW wants to market this as 8 series rather than 6 series they need to make the interior look above and beyond the 7 series in terms of the quality. IMO it looks likes upgraded 5 series interior not an upgraded 7 series interior.

4. The screen needs to be edge to edge and looks cheap with the black ends showing.

I loved my M6 GC and hoping the M8 GC will do some upgrade in the interior details.
My man
I am calling for silver buttons too, it looks so cheap plastics

Totally agree with you

The electronic parking brake system is cheaper with similar performance (in this order) with a floating-piston caliper than with a fixed-pistons caliper.

I do not see any other reason.

This interior layout is a backwards move from the stunning F06/12's, looks simply plebeian. Everything else looks great, especially the untapping of the power/torque potential of the 4.4L V8 in base form.

I think your other points hold merit but this seems like it will straddle the line between full on luxury like the S-class and sports car like the 911. It's a mix of both. Sure if you want a true luxury interior there's the Merc, but it drives like a boat and not everybody wants that. Likewise, not everybody wants the sportiness of the 911 with it's cramped interior. BMW offers a nice compromise between both here.
I believe the flow and the design architecture of the interior is unique to this car. As you are saying it tries strike a good balance between Porsche and Mercedes. I really hoped BMW would use better quality materials to make the interior stand out. The Glass shifter is really nice touch but that detail should have been taken to other parts of the interior. If feels like they ran out budget and decided to do plastic parts everywhere and skimp on the leather. The next 911 is going to upgrade the interior parts quality to step away from plastic and BMW went back to plastic from the metal. Lets hope they do some upgrades on the LCI.

The exterior in certain angles is amazing, except the AMG GT 4 door there is nothing in Mercedes lineup that can hold up to this.

At the price level of AMG GTR, Mercedes should give a dual calipers setup. Shame

Did this car really have to have a B pillar? Seems like the strength of the Carbon Core chassis allowing an open design would be a great story to tell.

You’re completely disconnected from the market. A fully loaded M550i is almost $110K. And if this interior is worth $70K for you, I can’t imagine what interior would be worth $100K. I guess Rolls Royce?

The design and tech are beautiful, but having an M6 that's slightly lighter than the M850i, I can imagine how the new 8 will be like..
It’s the lightest car in its class.

They need to remove the cheesy M badges on the side and back. Come on BMW, this is a classy flagship not a poser car.

Excuse if someone mentioned it. But I haven't seen anyone gripe/comment on the sidewalk thickness for these tires.

Two things come to mind. Is it intended for "leisure" driving and not daily driving.

Not too adept at what's good or bad in terms of thickness, but just looking, that's what stands out.

Thoughts?

welcome back 6 series, rebadged to 8,
was expecting more since I'm in the market now for a new ride.
Nice lines but seriously looks like a 6 series, same side lines same roof line similar rear, just add more stuff, and a higher price tag.... Whatever nice looking car but the M8 will be overpriced for me probably.

Edit: while I'm at it:

It looks like a new E92 front end with 6 series sides/ rear quarter panel, and rear mixed with m6/lexus combo.

And the interior is boring. lexus/gtr/ minus gauges and stuff/ aston martin/ nothing there.
dunno what it is suppose to be.
