Basically I didn't say, but I'm kinda asking can it wait 6 months assuming it's not overheating or do I need to go in now. We aren't driving much this year with things, and we were just in a wreck with other vehicles so I'd like to be able to walk and have 1 car out of the shop before the next one goes in. I think we're on the same page. See if it pops up again;and or if it overheating. |

The only concern here is enough is gone to trigger the sensor meaning it is yelling before anything bad happens, at that point I would rather swing by spend 30 mins or so getting it looked at.

Had this a couple weeks after I got my cpo. I bought a bottle of bmw coolant and cut it with water 50/50 in a plastic water bottle. It took the whole 16.9oz bottle before it got back to the recommended fill line. No issue since.

I've had this issue too. These are the correct procedures. There are two coolant tanks that needed to be topped up.

i had the coolant warning this summer. i topped it off, and a week later got prompted again. those tanks get burning hot and can crack. turned out to be a leak. take out the race chip, they will blame the overheating on it.

I had this pop up on a Saturday morning as I was about to drive 100 miles to a 50 mile cruise a couple months ago, so I wasn't feeling too great about letting it go and I didn't have any coolant on hand. Luckily it was 8AM and my SA gets in early, he just had me stop by right then and came out to the driveway with coolant in hand to do it himself, he didn't even check me in. FWIW, he said it happens pretty often with the V8s. There's not a lot of air circulation in the engine compartment, and it's pretty sensitive. Mine only took a few ounces of coolant to be happy again.

yikes. we are down to 1 car, and if this goes into the shop for a week, we will be in trouble. we live in a rural area where nothing is around for 5+ miles.

Way easier to just get a bottle of coolant and distilled water and do yourself. Takes 2 minutes. If the warning comes back quickly, you have a leak.

Back up..200miles not showing low yet..but the pressure test showed the leak. I recommend you have it done under warranty..then if something does happen They have a record |

He added non-BMW coolant and the dealer found out and charged him for the flush and other items, basically trying to void the warranty. Tread carefully!

Yep when I got the alert the main tank was low but thankfully the turbo charger tank was still up to spec.

dealership checked it, pressure test and topped it off for free / included in warranty.
it only needed a few drops of coolant according to the tech. apparently it happened from the hot and cold temperatures here lately, fluctuations caused a slight drop and trigger the sensor. |
