Spot on.

That is clearly larger and more upscale looking. But it's nowhere near as large as the s class coupe. My bet is 8 series

A concept based on the ideas and intentions of the CSL Hommage will be our 911 fighter.

This is definitely the new 6 Series. Size and proportions are similar to that of the current model. Also looks a lot like that sketch:

Hahahaha thanks for putting us right Scott.

If I see one comment and one rumour come up time and time and time again in this forum, on websites and in magazines it's about a BMW supercar...

So yes whether you need one is debatable, but you cannot deny there is desire out there and we live in a world where more people than ever can afford exotic cars.

I think personally it's very sad that the M1 hasn't been reborn, even if it had to be in partnership with another manufacturer to develop the platform. I think BMW are missing a huge opportunity.

Nice to hear about that scott, when we'll see a concept of such car? Maybe as soon as next year?

I hope it's a 2 seater like the AMG GT/R8/F-type, and not a "2+2" like the 911 itself though.

8 series as a grand tourer and 6 series as a sports car... please BMW let this happen and i will sell my organs to buy the next gen M6. No need to follow Mercedes into following all niches (producing both AMG GT AND E CLASS COUPE??) The ultimate Driving machine needs an ultimate driving machine...

While what you say is true to an extent, one could argue that Porsche doesn't build a poser 911. They build the 911 for a specific purpose, to be driven by enthusiasts. Porsche gets the poser market by making SUVs and that awkward 4 door. BMW has done too much for that consumer already, consider there are more SUV variants than cars.

Ultimately you can also argue the reason why these brands had status in the first place was because they used to build for the enthusiast. Now that BMW's focused has changed from "Ultimate Driving Machine" to "Sheer Driving Pleasure" the BMW purest is starting to move away, and look for other options. Many M drivers are looking into Porsche, Jaguar, or Mercedes for their next car.

Don't think BMW will make an R8/ F type/ 911 fighter. Scott mentioned the CSL homage might be the one, but lets not hold our breath. There is a better shot of getting and M version of the i8 or X8 than for BMW to step up and make a true sports car.

Similar?
That is what my grapevine said since G11 launch. Here's hoping they stick with this plan.
