So you don't like it just because of the badge? Well, some of us buy cars based on what they really are, and not what they are assumed to be based on a badge. I've never been a badge feend. If that's your main criticism of the car, then I guess you are on the right forum. Oh well, as someone said earlier, "haters gonna hate."

You know, I've seen a couple guys who put M emblems on their 3 and 1 series. I guess it adds a couple some hp and fools a lot of people who don't know any better. The other day I saw this guy with a e60 528 with full Alpina badging and wheels. It actually looked pretty nice . If that's what makes them happy...haha.

The Japanese make excellent cars. I'm clearly missing the point of your post.

Oh Sorry... I should have waited till I got my M3 delivered to post a
comment... didnt know one's knowledge was commensurate to the car
he/she drives and besides, paying $100K for a Nissan that looks like a
transformer is beyond me... and again... just my ignorance at play!

But the point about my post is: I think is pretty annoying someone to post a
thread about dumping a BMW and showing off a Nissan in a BMW forum
and having people discussing it at nauseum...

Sure, I could've ignored the thread but decided to express my opinion even if
it was against the rational of the so called car experts here..

Looks are of course are subjective. Obviously a lot of people like the car and don't share your opinion or it wouldn't be selling so well. It's not just because it's fast. If it was so ugly it wouldn't sell. Most are lucky to find them at MSRP nowadays, esp. at 2012, unlike an M3 which you can usually get at or near invoice pricing. BMW isn't always better and why can't another brand excell. Whether you like it or not, there are some great cars coming out of Japan and Korea. I love my M3 but there GTR is on another level. It was built to compete with the 997tt, etc. That's my opinion and I have owed a quite a few cars. It's an apples and oranges comparison....period. The guy is just showing us his new car. It's not like he was trashing the M3. I'm not sure why that annoys you? Some people can't get away from brand sterotypes or simply desire to drive what they believe is a status symbol in hopes of acquiring prestige.

Congrats. Personally I'd rather just supercharge the M3.. seems like you would have the best of both worlds that way...as I dislike the GTR's styling. I mean Im sure the price differential and the loss on the M3 would more than make up for the price of a proper kit and new brakes. A used GTR has how many years of warranty left?

You get a lot more than just power with the GTR. You can't mod an M3 to be like a GTR. By way of design, it will never handle as well. You could make the same arguement that no one should for example upgrade their Honda to an m3 BMW or M3 to a P or F car when they can just get it blown.

Well lets not fool ourselves, the differential between the M3 and the GTR is not even close to the differential between a Honda and a M3. Even with a the 525 kit you would rape a GTR in terms of speed. Furthermore the handling differential between the two car is not as great as you make it out to be... the GTR is just an easier car to push to the extremes in terms of handling.

I'm just saying in my humble opinion.. I think the GTR is FUGLY and economically speaking.. I would just add a supercharger and up the brakes rather than losing money on the M3 and paying more for the GTR. I'd have more fun and have a much better looking car that would pull on the GTR.

A rather pathetic attitude, that's for sure. I've been a member here for a while, having owned and modded my M3. Show me where I've "trashed" the car or insulted it, let alone "gone on about how fast the GTR is". The M3 was a good car but a huge step down for me from the Porsche and half the reason I changed. It's fantastic at what it does but mine was built awfully, rattles all over the place, constantly peeling wheels, bad paint, poor after sales. Fact of the matter is, I still enjoyed it and I think it's a good car, it just lacks any wow factor or exclusivity that I was used to with the 911.

Enjoy your BMW's, you're entitled to your opinion, however narrow minded it may be. Try opening your eyes a little and broadening your horizons; a true car enthusiast cares little for the badge, the BMW is *NOT* a Bentley, no matter how much people seem to think it is.

I lost a shade over $8k on the M3 over 8 months and 17k miles. I also have a 3 year warranty from now on the GTR due to the dealer screwing up.

Also I've watched vids of the ESS 575 and the GT-R *still* beats it, so how is the 525 "raping" the GTR? I'm just curious I had considered the modding route too!

Yes of course those were extreme examples but nevertheless a 525 kit will not rape a GTR. That's laughable. Have you driven both, esp. on a track? One could throw a tune and midpipe on a GTR and get the same 530whp. The GTR is "easier to push" because it handles better...duh. It's all wheel drive and in the same hands, is no comparison. Looks are subjective as I have stated earlier. Enjoy your m3. I certainly enjoy mine.

The GTR has 485 HP and weights 3800lb+. Are you honestly telling me with the 525 kit you wouldnt walk a GTR? Secondly, the GTR is easier to push because it is AWD. I love the GTR's performance and I respect its tuning potential. But ME personally I'd rather just slap on the supercharger... I like the M3 way too much. Regardless to the OP, I'm not a hater. I am happy for you and I am glad you are content.

That GT-R has 485HP. The new GT-Rs have 530hp and the 2013's are rumored to have 570!!!

FYI, you drive a 328i which is worse than a maxima in many performance categories.

Congrats Dave! Was that the one the owner or gm was driving??? I was at the Universal Nissan dealership and one of the sales advisors was telling me that a red one might be for sale...
I was so close to getting a gt-r, but the maintenance costs threw a wrench in my plans...
