Very impressive for such a heavy car. Better then most cars that are over 500lbs lighter.

Let's see CS version

Wow that's very impressive for a heavy GT car. Any plans for a M8 csl? Lightsport version?

Impressive and equally is the 992 with "only" 450hp running even faster.

What's their time for the AMG GT 4 door 63S? The manufacturer posted a 7'25" time.

Figures aren't that impressive and not sure other numbers are accurate
The 911 turbo s is 7:17 round the ring

A Giulia Quadrifoglio is also quicker than the M5 I think
Amg Gt s 4d is 7:25 - faster

Etc.
It isn't fast enough in my view for the money...

Essentially the same time as the 500 hp GT3

The times provided on the thread I believe are from Sport Auto. The 911 times on wiki are from Porsche themselves.

Don't some manufacturers like Mercedes or Lamborghini have the drivers drive the wheels off the car to get the times?

Exactly... Sport Auto is more meaningful to me as the bias is removed (well most of it I would hope).

Anyone can google a faster time but its like having a hp war using dyno sheets LOL.

Isn't there an M5CS coming out soon? Impressive numbers for all cars on that list. The one I'm most astounded by is the 992. 450hp and RWD only, incredible! Can't wait to see what the 2021 C8 Vette Z06 puts down. If it will exceed the 992 or not, especially since both cars will have similar "as tested" prices.

That 7:17 Turbo S time was done by the Sport Auto driver. However, one also has to keep in mind that run was done on P Zero Corsas, whereas the M8 is on regular P Zeros. Similarly, I must assume the GT 63 S time folks are referencing (7:25:40) was done with Sport cup 2s*. Not sure how much time the M8 would shave swapping to either of those, but it is quite a long track.

The 7:30 992 time was also Sport Auto, but regular P Zeros like the M8. Of course, on the 992 they're dealing with about 1000lbs less in weight.

Edit: That Turbo S also looks like it has lightweight bucket seats, a rear seat delete and...whatever that bar/brace is.

*and is the Mercedes time, not Sport Auto.

No you’re wrong it is impressive. Is it expensive? Of course it is, but the people who buy this don’t care about the price tag. This isn’t meant to be a track car and almost no one will buy it for that purpose. So the fact that it sits behind 991 variations of the GT3 and Turbo IS IMPRESSIVE. Just because the car isn’t for you doesn’t mean you need to discredit it. That’s not how logic works lol

I still think BMW missed the point with M8, I still think this M8 should've been M6 and M8 should've been 500kg lighter much faster Supercar, looking at the times, I'm more impressed with how great M5 is, I think M8 should be much much faster than M5.

Impressed by the M8 time, more impressed with the 992 Carrera S, trick tyres or have Porsche really moved the game on?
