Either my f30 335i because it was so boring to drive. And because after lowering it and adding 19" VMRs the ride quality was terrible.

or my e36 m3 because it was riddled with issues.

2017 Honda Accord Hybrid. Just traded it in for a 2018 540i Xdrive. I took a huge loss but it was like driving a sewing machine, I’ll never own a CVT transmission again.

Probably two that I recall being in that catagory: a 1967 Ford Mustang with a stick and 6 cyl that I bought for a winter beater in 1973.....and a 1977 Corvette that I bought new in 1977 that was gutless, creaked and groaned, and had numerous problems in the short while I put up with it.

e34 525iT. Slow, dual sunroof didnt work and leaked, interior was ugly, motor blew up from looking at it sideways. Worst car i ever owned.

oh wait, e34 540i/6 was also a pile of shit. m60 leaked from every single gasket on the motor. fix one, another leaks more, and like that over and over and over. 540i/6 was the only car i ever owned that i was constantly fixing, yet still left a puddle of oil the size of a large pizza every single place i parked it.

It got the job done and never left me stranded, but during a 3-year lease period, the battery died and needed replacement (turns out this was common with Kia), horrible Kumho tires wore so unevenly I had to replace them at 20k miles, and the steering rack or bushings somewhere in the suspension system had worn so badly that I could feel a loose rattle vibrating through the steering rack and to my hands. Just total garbage and why they can sell them for $20k with all the bells and whistles to make you think it's a good bargain. I only had it 3 years/40k miles. Who knows what would have come up had I kept it longer...

328i. But having had N54 and N55 cars, the N20 wasn't the problem. It was a combination of the size, detachment and really just the departure from what I thought made a BMW a BMW. This was an LCI, I'd imagine the original F30 would have just caused me to set it on fire.

We didn't want the car, some kids in a stolen car hit and totaled our E84 X1 35i and we needed a replacement. The LCI has just happened and early reviews said it had addressed lots of the shortcomings.

Now to be fair, we bought an E82 135i because the E90 felt too big and boring. We bought the E84 because the E91 felt boring and only had the N52. Hell, I even bought my M Coupe because the M3 felt big and boring. So perhaps it's not surprising that the one time we actually bought a 3er, we didn't like it.

1. 1963 Pontiac Lemans convertible (bought used in 1972). Motor Trend Car of the Year! Someone at GM had the bright idea of putting the transmission at the rear. Between either the clutch or the transmission needing repair, the car was on the road maybe half the time.
As a plus, the engine was a 4-cyl with a 4-bbl carb, basically a 389 V-8 sawed in half.
2. 1980 Buick Skylark. First year of GM's infamous X-Cars. The interior plastic trim was made of the same plastic as a Coleman cooler. After a few years in the sun, it crystallized and you could scrape off chunks with your fingernail.
I gave it to my ex in a divorce and I learned that she didn't put oil in it when the warning light same on, and the engine seized up.

Indeed, one of the most useless automotive inventions ever.

Back to the topic, the most unreliable car I have ever owned, by quite a margin, was the 2003 MB C32AMG.

I had it for 18 months and sold it for basically half of what I paid for it new.

In that time it probably went to the dealer 8 times, sometimes for the same problem. I have had 3 Mercs after that, and only one had a problem, which was fixed under motor plan.

I've only owned 3 cars, so the worse one would be an F30 328i but thats because the other two are F82 M4 and a C7 Z06 (2015) :P

Seriously though, the f30 isn't a great car. The lack of steering feel, the lack of exhaust note and the constant issues i had with that car... Bmw is lucky i even switched to an M4.

I don't think I have owned any car that is actually inherently bad. I can point out to things that are wrong.

My 15 MK7. Golf for example, great car if i wasn't a car enthusiast, it offers great comfort, good power for a everyday car, decent equipment levels and gets good mileage. It just suffers from the worst clutch ever, absolutely zero feel and vague when it does engage. I have driven 15 years in manual cars, i dont think I have stalled any of the 10 cars more than the 4 years I have had the Golf.

My 370Z was probably the worst summer toy I have owned from the list of fun cars I have had. Mostly from misplaced expectations. This also isn't so bad if i wasn't trying to drive beyond its comfort level. Saying its a sports car is a lie, it likes to be driven at 6/10-7/10s. Most of its flaws happen when you start to drive it like a sports car or take it to the track.
In my year or so of ownership, I have seen:
-Fuel starvation (even on a full tank! at the track, and on an onramp at 1/4 tank)
-Horrid clutch hydralics (constant failure of CSC and CMC)
-Vague and numb brakes even with higher temp fluids
-overheat the oil if there is no oil cooler in traffic in the summer and even with one would last at most 5-6 laps.
-Personally had a mysterious power steering issue that one time, locked up my steering completely mid corner at the track.
-Sucks way too much fuel for the power you actually get, its defenitely not as fast as its 337 horses would have you believe, my now higher mileage Z4M felt far faster, and my almost stock Z4M on all seasons is already lapping only a second or so behind my 370Z that has coilovers and RS3
-just overall does not drive well. Steering is vague and meaningless, you almost feel like you drive in isolation, things are happening but you can't tell what's happening. It totally lacks any feedback for proper driver satisfaction.

Funny, my Mk7 has a decent, if weak, clutch. Better than my M Coupe by a huge margin. My manual BMW's were near the bottom of clutch engagement feel and the shifter feel was pretty lousy too. Better than Mercedes, but that's not saying much.

GTi or a diesel? I have a regular peon spec 1.8T 3 door with the 5 speed.

E39 540i6 sport. Fantastic to drive but jees it never did run. Burned oil so bad we needed multiple jugs in the car which wasn't much of an issue as it was always in the garage being pulled apart.

Turned us off bmw's until the e90 and makes our N54s look like honda reliable.

confirmed with my 2008 cadillac SRX. garbage car that was forever having things break and warning lights left and right. we bought it as a step-down kid-hauler from a 2004 lincoln navigator (which we loved, but my wife tired of the size once we moved into the city).

my dad loves his chevy trucks and corvettes, and has always seemed to have good luck with them, so i gave GM a try...never again for me.

'95 4Runner guttless POS even with the 3.0L V6. Bought used for $2500 and foolishly poured over $10k into it thinking after repairs it would be a good reliable vehicle. No chance. Before it broke again, sold for $4500 to a guy who let nostalgia fog his judgement and I gave him full disclosure.

None of the cars I've owned wholely over the years were bad. Most modern cars are pretty good on the whole. However, if the hand-me-down car I got from my parents upon getting my license counts, that's would be my vote. The car was an '86 Peugeot 505 GL wagon. I will never consider another French car if one is ever again available in this country, and frankly, I hope they stay in France.

My parents bought it brand new in '86 and I got it with like 50k miles. This underpowered piece of garbage would break on a weekly basis. I think everything except for the engine and transmission was replaced at least once. I was hoping to be able to drive it to high school my senior year (30 miles each way), but I only actually ended up driving it 25% of the time. People would let me drive their cars because they felt sorry for me with the car always being in the shop.

Then I went to college. I didn't have a car as a freshman, so the horrible French monstrosity just sat. When I came home for summer break, it turned out that the car ended up releasing all of its fluids on our driveway over 8ish months. In the end, the car was towed away to a junk yard. I ended up with a 3 yo VW Fox, which was an absolutely flawless vehicle compared with the Peugeot. I owned that car for about 6 yrs. The only thing that went wrong with it was a blown shock and the exhaust manifold needed to be replaced. That's like 3 weeks worth of problems for the peugeot. Such a horrible, horrible vehicle. I literally thought I won the lottery when I got to pilot all 81 hp that the Fox offered. A freakin fox! It was like a $6k car brand new!
