While I tentatively agree with you, I wish they'd have made the trunk a bit larger. If only so the convertible mechanism didn't gobble up so much space in the drop top.

Also, anyone over 6'4" is going to struggle mightily to get the seat in a comfortable position. I'm about 6'7" and the front seatback hits the rear seat cushion before I'm able to recline it properly.

The rear seats are so laughably tight that they may have been better off making the car a true 2-seater with a hatch-like cargo area in the back instead.

2 seater cars have higher insurance rates.

The very reason 911's have child sized back seats.

Ugh, I couldn't disagree more--they destroy interiors with dated trims and usually come with horrible wheels. It's subjective, of course, but on this one, I struggle to understand the appeal.

To each their own...

And given that you're 6' 7"--of course, you're absolutely correct on all fronts and my apologies for even suggesting alternative points of view exist; silly me.

Its interior is also absolutely horrible. The digital display is cheap looking, lacks adjustability, colour, or proper looking dials. The central console is a mess (yeah i know they tried to mimic the old 8, it still looks like shit).

What the hell is this car? The only one that makes sense is the Gran Coupe version, which at least sits 4 and it's a proper sedan, so you accept the weight and size of it.
The Gran Coupe is definitely on my list. Oh how I wish either variant looked more like the concept cars shown just months prior to release.

The styling of Alpina is purely subjective; you either like it or you don't. But one can't argue about the performance improvements they are able to achieve.

Google "Alpina B7 vs" and you'll find videos of them trouncing everything from E63s to Hellcats, even the shiny new AMG GT4 gets smoked.

Y'all need to stop comparing BMW's to Porsche's... I'm a huge BMW fan, but you can't compare a front engine to a mid engine. The 8 series is great, but quit comparing it to a 911...compare it to a Panamera if you feel the need to compare

I definitely agree w/ the convertible part, even though I know many won't agree, it is probably the best version for this car if you are looking for more of a GT - as the M8 is definitely more luxury than sport - between the two, at least until the Gran Coupe arrives.
"Great car, wrong price"

Bingo. Will make a great off-lease/used ride

They fault it against those other cars but they forget every day drive ability and reliability. The ride is firm but still comfortable. The steering is quick and precise, the fit and finish is the best to date from BMW and the car looks so special in person. It is so much easier to drive than the 911, attracts way less attention than the Aston or Bentley but still exclusive enough to rarely see another one. Yes it's expensive but much cheaper than a R8 or those other cars plus service and reliability and a solid dealer network makes it easy to own. And leasing is far better than VAG cars like Audi and Bentley that have horrid residuals and terrible rates.

Noushy
The option that this car has no Porsche no Bently no Ferarri or Lambo will never do and is to able to click one button and go rwd/awd what other coupe does that, it was like magic with my old f90 and this m8 it's just amazing out of this world, the features are just next to non!
As a former f90 owner how do you compare the drive/handling/sound/feel of the car especially when you push it hard? Was it worth the change other than for the aesthetics?
The main reason I switch was too many people were getting them they become soo common in New York lol, also I neeed something more exotic looking sometimes many people would mistake it for a normal 5 series lol which I don't really care but the only m car that really stands out with all the curves and distinct look was this car, you should see when people see this car it wow them most people don't even know bmw makes n m8 lol, now for performance I'll say this car blew my expectations it's a very heavy car it weighs pretty much same as the m5 but the way it handles is no different from my old m4, also when I get inside this car it feels wayyyy more special then my m5 it feels like a custom interior... it's soooo much to say about it I'm extremely happy with the transition between the m5 Comp to m8 Comp, didn't regret the swap one bit...
Did I miss something here?! You expressed the zero regret going from an M5 to the M8 and you posted two pics of your M5? 🤔

Maybe you forgot to post pics of the M8...?

I can see that maybe a compromise for car seat (knew more than a guy with 911 and child seat)... otherwise yea I can most normal people would prefer 8GC

As long as Alpina includes a case or two or their lovely Wein.

anxious to test drive the M8C and judge it myself
I was impressed with the M850 when I drove it
I think the price is steep and the market for big sedans above 100 k is shrinking

I drove the convertible from Washington DC down through Shenandoah (Skyline Drive) and the entire 469 miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Having driven both I can honestly say they have been the best BMWs I've ever driven. I was shocked but it's true. It's not just a rebadged M6.

It's not as mean as the M3 but it still has power and torque aplenty. The M5 is quicker but the 8 is way more refined.

I find the 8 to have the perfect blend of power, tech, comfort and luxury. It's agility is nearly as good as the excellent m340 which is saying something for a car this big.
How can an M5 be quicker when it's the same thing with higher center or gravity and more weight?

Those of you expecting an all conquering super car or Porsche performance for the same money, get serious. BMW has never been the best at anything, including in any measurable performance category against any similarly priced comparisons. Since dawn of time Porsche has wiped the floor in terms of handling, though GM has started to catch up since the C6Z. AMG and GM have also wiped the floor with BMW acceleration wise, until the new M5. Same goes for quality and design. M cars interior donít hold a candle to Merc and Porsche.

All that notwithstanding, BMW builds a car that is good or great at just about everything, just not the best at anything. This M8 is no exception. Itís great at everything, but it isnít the best at anything and this is consistent with BMW history.

Yep - id be surprised if the M5 isn't quicker than the M8GC too - given that the latter is heavier with the same engine specs.

M5 Comp and M8 GC comp differs by 100 lb? On a straight it might show but if one is more track tuned than the piggy one can still out run

I think BMW is significantly sand bagging the M8 numbers. It feels more powerful than the M5 driven back to back and not just more nimble. It easily spins all 4 wheels which makes me think more torque.
