That's actually very impressive, considering all the other cars are using sport cup 2 or corsa

Agreed and the Benz is quite heavier and makes much more torque. The BMW is not super heavy compared to MB and Audi its roughly 4200 lbs with a very low center of gravity. No its not 3300 or 3600 lbs but still for an ultra luxury GT it is a beast. My 500 or so miles with it just gets better and better. Once it breaks in and has its service I am very excited to see what it can do. Also remember most people buying this vehicle are not taking it to the track. On the road none of these cars can be fully exploited including the M8 comp.

According to the M engineers they didn't want the added weight and the complexity and unnatural steering feel and also not everyone is a fan of the steering feel. It sometimes makes it quirky at high speed lane changes as I have personally witnessed this on my Alpina B7 at high speeds. Its a weird and uneasy feeling not too dissimilar to hitting a patch of ice. The car sort of sideways skids instead of steering over.

Noticed the same on the B7 (we considered a 2018 before the got the E63s). Great car BTW

AMG GTC has rear wheel steering which feels quite natural.
Steering is better on the AMG but then the car is 3600lbs (still not light) and has a different setup (RWD, mid-front engine and DCT at the rear wheels)...

It's a money reason. M5 doesn't have rear wheel steering same chasis. Would have added costs to have M8 with rear wheel steering. That's what I hear anyway FWIW

The GT63S 4-door is on Michelin Cup2(semi slick tyres) vs. M8CP is on normal street tyre P Zeros. No need to panic.

Missed the P-Zero reference. Our M8C came with Michelin PS4s...

Edit: saw the P-Zero info when playing this on youtube...

It's documented in one of the car magazines. Already developed as M850i has it. Easy to add to M8

Seeing the regular layout of the instrument cluster and the central display being switched on, the car doesn't seem to be in track mode?!

I was also surprised not to see much use of the paddles...relying on the automatic to make the shifts.

Well, there are several Porsche below the 1 minute 50 mark but it's impressive that 4300-4600lbs cars like the M8 and GT63s can perform at this level.
It's a tribute to the quality of the AWD systems, traction control and suspension setups. 600+hp engines help of course

Also incredible that the base 992 Carrera S came in at 1:53:30.

Worst tyres possible on this M8!
No traction at all, with Cup 2 would be a different story 😎
