After looking at a GV70 in person definitely very impressed, very worthy of consideration. Didn't get to drive it but I'm sure it handles great as well. The full Napa interior is very premium, and I love the exterior details and Porsche influence on the rear and C-pillar.

Drove behind one of these last week and from a distance I thought it was a Macan.

That GV70 looks pretty damn nice for the price. Def a strong contender if buying new.

GV70 seems nice enough but from what I've read it's not the least bit sporty. And something about Genesis' design ethos just doesn't speak to me. The split headlights/taillights, oval theme, etc. not my taste.

Not my taste either. I like that they throw everything and the kitchen sink into a reasonably priced package, but I don't like that they (I.e. the entire Hyundai/Kia group) changes design directions so often. 2 or 3 years into your ownership and you'll be driving something that doesn't even resemble the most current lineup of their respective models. Not good for really developing a strong following that will make people "remember the days" when they owned such and such a model. The German three certainly have that...everyone knows and talks about older models by their chassis codes. That's what makes a brand to me. They are kind of the LG of the automotive industry (not just because it's a Korean brand...Samsung has more of a history of followers and cohesive lineage).

I get it, they're trying to find a design language that works for them. At least the G80 and GV70 have a more consistent design theme. I really don't like the G70's interior, it looks very generic and could pass as being from any Asian automaker.

The products themselves seem pretty good but again not my taste.

Genesis has only existed for 5 years, almost everything is a 1st design, not a redesign. There's strong consistency between the G80, GV80, G70. They even updated the G70 for consistency when it wasn't due for a redesign.

What's going to kill Genesis when trying to compete with BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, etc.. is the Hyundai dealership & service dept. experience. Ultimately I think Genesis buyers are still going to come from Hyundai owners, Genesis just gives them an upward path while staying in the family when otherwise they might have moved to a German or Japanese brand.

The G80 and G90 are in their 2nd design iteration. The G70 basically follows that same design but was updated to have the split front and rear lights. Point is, all you have to do is look at the parent company Hyundai to see how often they like to change things up (for better or worse) across the entire Hyundai, Kia, Genesis range. Some people may like that it's always a fresh design, but personally I like some heritage in automotive design.

I may fix my X3 "rough ride"...

Test driving, for the week-end, a X5 xDrive40i with Air Suspension & Comfort Seats and all the options I would want on the X3 LCI. Hoping that it ride better than the Macan GTS.

As we all know by now, design is a very personal matter. I would take the GV70 design over the BMW Edsel cars but that is me.

Almost every major brand has EVs in this size range coming out very soon if that appeals.

Kia, Hyundai, Genesis (same parent) each have one
Polestar
Cadillac
MB
Audi
BMW
etc...

I have a Macan GTS and don't think the suspension could be much better than it is...maybe I'm missing something.

Sure but as far as SUVs go, the X3 is no Edsel. I'd argue it's one of BMW's most attractive vehicles alongside the 3er and 5er.

Well, show up and look at the X5 still dripping from the car wash...

My salesman came out with a long face, he try to reach me to tell me that they had just sold it.

End up with a basic X5 as my wife had already left...

A bit anemic compare to the M40i...

Am I the only one that thinks the previous model X3 is the much more handsome vehicle vs the current X3? It's gone from muscular to androgenous blob.

„Garish" depends entirely on how you spec the car and your color choices.

I think the alfa stelvio quad is still hands down a great driving experience. The macan turbo is outpriced, and the sq5 is due for a refresh. The x3m is still great too. My wife chose the m40i version and loves it. For houston city driving you cant beat the torque. The m x3 just felt like a caged animal and no where to unleash lol

My buddy has the G90. These are awesome cars coming from Genesis but until they figure out how to provide service to a premium var owner they will be a big failure. Imagine no loaners for 3 weeks when your car is not drivable ? Not we will rent you a car. How about. Only have 2 Genesis certified mechanics. One is out the other is swamped so the scheduled first service is taking 3 days! Ah NO!
