New Infiniti direct injection V6 on the way...340-350 HP...........

Infiniti News
Infiniti preparing to launch direct-injection 3.7L V6

Nissan’s Infiniti luxury division has greatly revamped its powertrain offerings over the past several months – bumping the displacement of its legendary VQ V6 from 3.5L to 3.7L and adding two more forward gears, now totaling seven, to its automatic transmission – but a new report indicates further improvements are on the way.

According to Car and Driver, Infiniti is readying a production version of the 3.7L V6 that debuted in the company’s Essence show car at the Geneva Motor Show. The production version of the motor will retain the concept’s direct-injection, but will lose its twin-turbo setup.

The new direct-injection 3.7L V6 will likely surface in the next-generation M, which should make an appearance sometime in early 2010. Following its M introduction, the new DI engine should find its way under the hood of the G37 coupe and sedan, just in time for a mid-cycle refresh. Insiders say the direct-injection engine will boost horsepower to 340 or 350, with the added benefit of better fuel economy.

^ Is Michael Jackson a member now?

I would think a few more ponies would be a bit more news worthy but better than nothing I guess.

Impressed with those numbers and the evolution of the G's powerplant & tranny over the last two - three years. Of course this will come at a price.

I wonder why it's taking them so long to go DI. Where's Honda and DI? Next we'll see Honda pushing 130 hp/liter with DI.

Honda will probably introduce DI in the new NSX. They always trickle down tech.

Nissan makes bulletproof engines. Very reliable at least. I had no problems driving hard everyday in my g35 and maxima.

Great news, the only problem i have with infinitis or nissans in general is that the manual transmissions are horrible. They are nearly impossible to be smooth unless your running to redline and hardly using the clutch.

just takes practice. there is no CDV to make it smooth like on BMWs.
