I drove a C63 AMG yesterday

I would post pics but we all know what a silver C63 AMG looks like right? So I took this out for a drive, and fell in love. That thing barked and snorted like no other. It was wet/rainy ish out so I didn't toss it around the open country road corners much but I sure was not shy about downshifting and letting it rip. Traction was very good especially considering the power and it being RWD. I am not too picky but the complaints I would have if I were is that the NAV set up with the hidden display looks cheap and the automatic only was weak as well, the paddles had a decent amount of lag between changing gears, not quite as bad as say... a tip-tronic G35 or something.

The power and sound made up for it however and I personally think the car looks great. 451hp I believe and the torque was up there. I don't know how it would feel compared to an E92 M3 because I have never driven one but I would imagine the punch feel would be lighter in the M. I was very impressed but I fear longevity and maintenance/repair costs down the road would scare me away from ever actually owning one.

From most of the reviews I've read and saw, the c63 really is a torque monster. Sound of intensity lol!

Downshifting from 4th to 3rd with no foot on the gas using M mode with the paddle shifters that bitch would bark at me and then we have lift off. I loved the damn car, LOVED it!

I drove two of them in the same day. I had to drive it again to get a good feel for it. The ride quality is awful for what it is. The car is, as they say, a German Mustang. It handles the worst out of its competitors. Its number 1 priority it overwhelming power. I did love how the seats molest you though. I'm 5'9 155lb and it squeezed me.

The best thing is when you're breaking moderately and hold the left paddle down. The rapid-succession downshifts are fuckin' glorious.

I like the idea of a german mustang, it handles and brakes far better than most performance cars geared towards handling yet it has a whopping chunk of hp/tq to go with it

How can you say it handles worst out of its competitor. From what I gathered, it was on par with B7 RS4.

i dont wanna turn this into a C63 vs M3 thread but i've driven both and the C63 is definitely faster in a straight line. it lacks the soul of a true sports car though and i think thats where the M3 really shines. even though i know the C63 is faster (at least from my experience), my heart is set on the M3

CarandDriver has posted 4.1seconds out of two different M3 loaded to the gills. The quartermile was 12.5 as well. RoadandTrack posted similar times. There is a 400lb weight difference. Put a 400lb man in the back of a an M3 and go race a C63...lol

The C63 is the a smidge faster overall. Its STILL a drivers race.

And even in this fuelish trio, the C63 stood out for fuel economy, 29 percent worse than the two others, averaging 10 mpg over 700 miles, or almost $200 per day in Germany, where premium gas is $7 a gallon.

Come on dude, let it go. The C63 is faster in the straight line most of the time on the street and drag strip. People dont buy M3 for drag. I find it funny that people like to compare the M3 1/4 and 0-60 time most of the time yet they prefer the M3 more because of its handling capabilities.

Let what go? I did say the C63 is faster. I never said the M3 is bought for drag. The acceleration times arent drastically different even though the M3 is outpowered. People do prefer the M3 b/c of its overall feel. The car being fast is a very close second.

I think the ride quality is perfectly fine considering the lack of body roll. Rides better than my car, and I don't have RFTs. German "Mustang" is pushing it, but I get the idea.

Weight kills it off the line. Do you have the trap speeds for those 1/4 figures? I think the difference would be much greater for passing times and 5-60, aka tests that make a difference in the real world.
