This Ford GT is the modern version of the LFA. Wildly overpriced for what it's up against. Stupid V6 too.

That’s not a fair comparison. Lexus created an innovative way to process and mold carbon fiber that no other manufacturer has done, hence the R/D cost that was trickled down to the price tag.

Limited production car that is sill out performance 95 percent of its class. Vs a large production car doing the same. Price is stipulated by supply and demand.

True, but they couldn't find a way to buy/make/steal a decent transmission?

My god that zr1 is fast. Based on the indicated speed and the lap timer (starting at 1:32), the car went from 60-120 mph in 4.9 seconds. That's a respectable 0-60 time.

"Aside from a harness bar and five-point harnesses, Chevy says the ZR1 used was totally stock"

seriously?

That transmission is still trash. This car half-assed it's way to a Lap record.

Imagine how quick it would have been if it had a good transmission!

At the very bottom of the article:
Perhaps the most impressive part of this ordeal isn't the ZR1's lap, but rather a lap set by the Chevy team earlier in a manual-transmission Corvette Z06. They were able to lap the car around VIR's Grand Course West in 2:39.77—a little more than a second slower than the Ford GT. Not bad for being a quarter of the price.
