Love it. Seen three on the street and a few more in museums. Still prefer the F40, but a great car too.

I grew up on the roads in that video, Canepa's shop is in Scotts Valley, open to the public, very cool to visit.

There are always very 'important' Porsches around, and usually a couple of 959s

Speaking of the F40...The period that is the first few years of the decades of 1990 is truly the golden era of modern automobiles. In 1990-93 these cars were in production and you can buy them new:

Ferrari F40
Ferrari Testarossa
Porsche 959
Lamborghini Countach (last year of production is 1990)
BMW E30 M3
Lotus Esprit V8
Acura NSX
Jaguar XJ220
McLaren F1

I know cars today are faster, more powerful, handles better, and are generally considered overall better cars. But those early 199x cars were pinnacles of engineerings not giving a f**k what the bean counters think.

Nice video! I remember getting my copy of AutoWeek, back in the day... with a picture of those six 959S's locked up in a fenced in area behind Al Holbert's Porsche dealership in PA. Three cars in white and three red 959's. Sticker price was $335K back in '88 if I am not mistaken. Sometimes I wonder what would have happened to PCNA with Al Holbert didn't die in his plane crash and if that Pan-AM flight Lockerbie didn't go down with those three VoA(Volkswagen of American, the fore runner of PCNA). Those two events changed Porsche's direction in the US market.

The 959 was indeed far ahead of it's time. For better and worse. I think it is outshone by the F40 because for so long people didn't appreciate just how cutting-edge it was. And it is a stunning design. Looks like an old-school IMSA racer with plates.

They are gorgeous in white and grey.

And pop culture was smitten by Ferrari then. Between Magnum PI and Miami Vice, many had a good reference for Ferrari’s compared to Porsche.

2010 135i Coupe  [5.26]
I usually LOVE petrolicious' stuff but this one was a little... boring? Five of the seven minutes were about getting the car into the country. Not exactly the car-porn they usually produce. Nothing about it got me any more interested in the car.
