Part of it may be that there was a time when complex body designs were difficult to design and produce, wide panels that form difficult angles, etc., but these days it's a dime-a-dozen as engineering design and production have made such things common place.

Think I'd either step up an get an outgoing V12 S or save some money and get an F Type R.

Tech sharing similar to Subaru and Toyota. BMW and Toyota. BMW and McLaren. Etc.

AM is still making their V12 and 4.7 V8. AMG motors for everything else.

At the end of the day, it's a cost saving exercise for AM.
As important, AM gets COMMAND and other modern interior technology that would be difficult for them to develop on their own.

Aston Martin Unveils 9-Minute Doc Celebrating The Vantage GTE

Quote:
If you were curious to know what it took for Aston Martin to build a road car and a race car at the same time, the British automaker has just put it on film for you.

This specially-commissioned video documents the birth of the Vantage GTE, Aston Martin's track focused weapon aimed at the FIA World Endurance Championship.

"We decided to replace the current Vantage road car and - since it's really necessary to take race technology from the track to the road and from the road to the track - it's really important that we design both simultaneously," said company boss, Dr Andy Palmer.

The video will take you through the 18 months it took in order to turn a concept into a racer able to challenge the likes of Ferrari, Porsche, Ford, Corvette and BMW at Le Mans next summer.

Thus far, the Aston Martin GTE has completed over 14,000 km (8,700 miles) of testing, in the UK, Spain (at Navarra) and at Sebring in the U.S.

The front is dreadful and absolutely kills the car for me. What a shame, they've always made such nice looking cars.

It looks to me as if AM loved the new front end of the Lexus and decided to just give it a little AM look as well.

I agree it's horrible.

I was going to say... the DB10 handled the front grill with much more elegance.

Think this car is beyond amazing. The exterior is just so beautiful I can't get over it.

BUT - craziest part is that they took a concept (DB10) and made it MORE aggressive. That in and of itself (plus the fact that a manual transmission is joining the party) make this thing so awesome

I'm less excited about the interior but I can deal
