Anyone here stopped going to the gym?

Hmmmm... I think I might just do it. Why? It's kinda expensive, and it smells bad most of the time and the equipment, well, it's dirty no matter who uses it and cleans it.

I'm starting to think that exercising at home is more peaceful, cleaner, and cheaper. I'm not a professional athlete so I think it's going to be okay for me.

i stopped but that was because i got this new girl who is a total freak. swear to god, i spent more time in her than anything else. but im putting a stop on that, ive fucking gained 4lbs in the last 3 weeks. not good, considering prior to her, i was on a serious workout plan.

god. shes such a distraction.... not like its a bad thing, i still get my workout. actually, i sweat more with her in 1hr than i do in 4 hours of the gym. but see ive been eating poorly. awh well.

I just bought a Bench Press w/ Lat pulldowns, curlbar, dumb bells, barbell, 225 pounds worth of weights, all for $75 It's all olympic size too! The weight plates are kinda rusty.. but who cares.. Craigslist FTW. I'm going to save sooo much money by working out at home than the gym.

i agree, but if you are going to exercise at home instead of the gym, dont let it spiral into you not exercising at all down the road

I'm not just talking about hands.... I'm also talking about the seats on the equipment you have to sit on in order to perform the exercises. Most of the time they're so dirty that I have to scratch my butt after after sitting on the seats probably because of the germs or something. I came to realize that going to the gym is like taking the bus. I really have to start my own home gym.

I really really really hate it when the gym smells like fart or poop..... and who doesn't?

ive been going for the past week and a half...havent slacked since, 1 day off after 3 days of intense workout...i say you stick to the gym no matter what, you'll feel good about yourself and stay confident

one of the greatest quotes ever made, its not only the car you drive that matters, but the arm that sticks out the window

There are too many distrations at home imo. As hard as it is for someone who hates the gym to get my ass there, at least I stay focused and do everything I need to do since I'm there anyway.

+1

there are plenty of bodyweight workouts to do at home that are very effective but you are on point, too many distractions at home.

Bowflex + Treadmil ftw.

Speaking of which, I've been slacking for a while now. Gotta get back on track for my vacation coming up.

Using your own bodyweight is the best exercise for toning up. No need for weights or machines. On the other hand, you need weights if you want to gain mass.

People love making fun of Bowflex's but it works. I need more weight added though. Guess this means I need to buy another one.

the reason I'd rather go to the gym instead of working out at home is because the gym just has that atmosphere that forces you to work out. At home, it's so easy to just be distracted, whereas at the gym you really don't have a choice since everyone around you is working out too

If you have the discipline to wake up, get in the car and drive to the gym. Some people don't, but yeah I hear you. I prefer the gym over home too. Lot's more things you can do there.

I haven't gone to the gym and actually quit that gym since it's a 20 miles drive now since I moved house back in October of '07. I still exercise though, basketball and running.

I really need to hit the motivation to go to the gym myself. We have a weight room at the apartment complex but I've still never even been in the year that I've lived here.

Better yet, I need to get back into playing hockey. Talk about a work out.
