Considering '20 M5 Comp switch to '20 M8 GC Comp
Hey guys,
Per the subject, any sage advice either for or against? I'm currently looking at one in Individual Dravit Grey Metallic with Taruma Brown Full Leather interior. For? Against? Any other color combo recommendations? I'm also specifically interested in hearing thoughts from anyone that's made a similar switch. Thanks! |

I have that exact color combination on order for a M8 comp convertible. Should be great on a GC.
Can't speak to the switch from an M5 comp but will definitely be more rare. |

Actually I think you'll like it better! Went from M5C to M8 vert and couldn't be happier. In my opinion your color choices are spot on.
The M8 is cozier and you'll lose massage and some of the seat adjustments but it's snappier and sharper than my M5. Powerwise you'll piggy anyway and I don't think you'll find acceleration suffers from switch though your 2020 is very fast I realize. The reviews on the 8 have not been as flattering as I think they should be and to some degree I think it's follow the leader. Yes, there are many things that it may not be but to me it does so many things so well! Good luck with your decision. |

Have you driven one yet?
The M8 seats fit me perfectly but I would have liked the upper back adjustments and massage. Interior is definitely a step up from the M5 though. You picked a nice color combo but I am a sucker for light interiors and the Ivory/Tartufo makes the coupe less claustrophobic. I have only seen black interior GC's which come across as a bit boring/ There appear to be no lower springs for the M8 yet and the non-M 8 series springs may not fit (nobody has tried anyway) due to the lack of rear wheel steering on the M. |

Thanks to you both!
So there really is no massage seats (or sunroof for that matter)? Any idea why? I'm considering pioneering the H&R M850 springs if there's nothing else. That's actually what I run on my M5 (M550 springs). |

The sun roof was probably dropped to keep the weight down. I see that the 0-60 on the GC is listed as 3.0 sec.; same as the coupe. Not sure how they can do that with a higher weight. Using the M550 springs on the M5 seems like a simple swap as neither have rear wheel steering. This would be different on the 8 series. Think that another member here (Ehloo) had checked into this... Perhaps he can comment. |

Here are some pics of the Taruma brown interior from the showroom the day I purchased my M8 GC Comp.
It’s really beautiful! I did consider the Sakhir Orange, but was afraid I would grow tired of the Orange the same way I grew tired of my Opal White interior in my San Marino Blue M6, so I went with the beautiful brown. |
