Power Is Nothing Without Control
What a difference Xdrive makes for the Turbo era Ms?!? As impressive as Powertrain of the standard M8C did, it makes you wonder what a 120 KG reduction in weight would do? Imagine the kind of performance that would give?

Let me preface by saying that the new M8 Competition is VERY good looking, sounding, gripping, seating, LOL, you get the idea! For such a heavy vehicle, it is putting it's power down nicely in various videos I've seen including against a new R8! Something BMW can certainly be proud of. As I consider it a "WORLD GT" worthy of anybody's consideration!
The Ford GT500 is Nucking Futs.... PERIOD! With slight Mods it becomes otherwordly!

Down 143 bhp, I'd be curious to see a stage 1 M8 vs the GT500. In theory, GT500 should still have more power, but I wonder if it would pull the M8 in as easily as it did.

I own a 2016 mustang with a big Kenne bell supercharger, long tube headers, Corsa racing exhaust etc. And a real manual transmission!! I am also a huge bmw and mustang enthusiast and have owned too many bimmers to mention. Both manufacturers do an excellent job at what they specialize in. A Shelby GT500 costs 70k less than the M8. Until BMW learns how to boost large displacement V8s and strays away from their tried and true I6....They will never beat the best domestic muscle cars in drag racing. And for the record driving an AWD small block V8 with twin turbos is easy! Set the software to launch mode, stab, and steer. The computer takes it from there!

There is an old adage in drag racing! There is no replacement for displacement. The Shelby has the equivalent of a modern big block V8. BMW focuses on boosting small blocks. It's the equivalent of a 289 small block Vs a big 396

Crazy....I can honestly foresee many people dying in these cars because they have no business behind the wheel of high HP cars.

Still favoring M8 for dozens of other reasons. Isolated 0 to some number statistics represent a small percentage of all buying decision factors.

The Stang is quicker and it's obvious. Dude driving M8 historically has ridiculous reaction time. If both of these cars are launched identically, Stang wins everytime, period.
Also don't think for a moment that the Ford is a one trick pony. See the Porsche Vid above. that said... If I'm shopping for a $140k Grand Tourer, I'm snatching the M8 without hesitation. Fantastic overall vehicle with shit loads of curbside appeal. |

M8 is very fast and consistent, especially from a dig. Those traps don't lie, though. 126 vs. 133 is a huge difference. From a roll the GT500 wins every time unless you're talking 10-20mph rolls, where is struggles with traction.
Also, don't forget this GT500 had the passenger seat out and a res delete. So not completely stock. My biggest complaint with the M8 is the astronomical price and equally astronomical depreciation that comes with these big lux coupes. M8 Comps are $150-160K with options. Lease or buy, why would you get one over a 992 Carrera 4S? The Porsche is actually cheaper in this case, if optioned right. GT500 is not any better. $90-100K MSRP for a Mustang is ridiculous. After the current $10-20K markups we are talking about a $115-120K Mustang...

I was not going to post but I have to say it. Customers shopping M8s are not cross shopping GT500s and vice versa. Not to mention the interior and fit and finish of the Mustang is no better than a $35k Mustang GT. Add to that the horrible dealer service, waiting in line to get your $100k mustang serviced behind a eco sport or fiesta no thanks. Or a fiesta loaner car? You get what you pay for and all of these high dollar cars depreciate like mad. You want resale buy a Honda or Toyota. Peace and out.

LOL but to Noushy's and my point you're driving the luxury version and willing to bet my 401K (not really) you wouldn't pick the GT350 over your M850i.

Again, no one is cross shopping these vehicles anyways, they are in two different worlds, purposes, price brackets, etc. But, people can likely deal with the interior and other quality aspects if the shelby is their second vehicle. You guys are putting too much emphasis on the GT350/500 being your only vehicle, most owners likely have a garage with other cars.
