Finally had the chance to try it out on the way home from dinner Saturday night as it included a stretch on the freeway. It worked absolutely flawlessly including setting the speed at the posted limit (I was at the safe 9 MPH over when I engaged it).

Not something I'll use often but looking forward to it to take over during some of the boring stretches on the next road trip to San Diego to visit our son. There are some stretches I'm absolutely looking forward to in the M850i, i.e. a 2-lane section in which even in the outgoing Lexus GS430 (equivalent to same era of 550i) was a blast to pass all the slower cars. The M850i will make that seem like child's play in comparison. Just going to need to read the manual on how to adjust the speed so I can speed when I do enable it.

Isn’t this for traffic jam and the speed should be less than 40mph?

No it is in essence autonomous driving aka Tesla Autopilot. Just need to keep your hands on the wheel or as I showed my wife a knee on the steering wheel and the car drives itself.

System is getting close to Tesla. Having a Tesla also the Tesla can change lanes with a signal and fully drive as many seen videos of people sleeping.

The bmw system does work well. Makes long drives very easy

The BMW system does this as well, if you have the cruise control engaged in steering assistance mode.

Thanks for confirming as I thought I had read that during my research prior to buying the M850i but didn't try it on the first run. I believe to trigger it you do it via the half-signal, i.e., normal quick lane change vs the full engagement that locks the signal.

That is correct, just so long as you have the system in the proper mode.
