Looks like the xHP site and app are saying the M8 is now supported, at least VIN code digits 4-7 being AE0C. Has anyone done this yet on the M8, or had any experience using the xHP flashing app? Definitely considering for the 450 bucks or so it costs.

Waiting to hear back from them if I can use an ENET cable or if I have to get the wireless adapter since there is some mild confusion with having to pick g-series on the compatibility chooser yet this being an f92 although on a g-series chassis. Will report back when I hear from them.

Sounds like we do need to use the wireless adapter for the initial flash. I ordered the xHP Blue WiFi adapter and will report back after I receive the adapter and have a chance to flash and test it out.

I follow someone who has an m8 that runs 9.8 1/4mi
He said he shredded his transmission on the first run
with xhp. He upgraded to Pure drivetrain stage 2 transmission rated for 1,400hp/1,200 torque and it works well now. The sound/speed of his shifting is nuts now. Guy has some built internals and good choice of other upgrades

If you select the F chassis like the M8's are it says only to 2019. So I'd be curious and surprised if it would work for anyone past 2020.

I don't think so, according to a look up tool I found the F and G are different. I know when looking up parts etc you have to choose F91,F92 or F93 for the M8 line.

Here is a good reference; https://www.turnermotorsport.com/t-B...%20designation.

Here is another good read; https://bimmerlife.com/2021/04/03/bm...des-explained/

I understand your point but for xhp flash it is under Gseries
Go to their support page and look it up

That doesn't change the fact the BMW M8 is a F series chassis. That is just an error on their end.

Heck after you filter on their website they take you to a generic buy page that lists impossible options for the M8 before you buy. lol Maybe its a EURO spec thing.

Not sure I'd be interested in buying from a company that clearly is inaccurate.... lol

They didnt do a mistake
Model code is different then chassis code
Yes M8 is F chassis code but all 8 series are considered G model code

That simply is not true my friend. While BMW does get some confusion because the base 8 series are G codes the M8 is a F code. It happens in other models as well. BMW Chassis and Model are the exact same thing but BMW calls them Chassis by factory and sales. The confusion you are talking about might be from older models but that is not true today. I mean you can simply google what model code or chassis code is the M8 and will show you F and for say 840i it shows G. Also if you call up your parts service provider they also look it up via F.... Now if you are talking their 4 digit codes like GV02 etc that is once again something completely different.

Apologies for the delay in reporting back but to address some things while waiting for it to get a little nicer out I’ll say this:

As far as compatibility goes, you’ll need to check if your VIN is supported as it’s not just blanket covered by chassis. Both my 2020 M8 coupe and my buddies 2023 M8 GC were compatible, successfully unlocked and flashed. The VIN digits you use to check against the compatibility list come from the 4 characters after WBS (WBA for non M) characters 4-7.

I initially checked with RBT as I had the same concern regarding the “vehicle picker” not showing F-series option for our M8s. They confirmed that we should be using the “G-series/Supra (8-speed)” option when purchasing and I can confirm that this option does work correctly for the F92 and F93.

As far as I understand everything, and while I am using an iPhone with the xHP app to perform this process, please be aware that it may be different for other configurations such as android or a computer but I only have experience using this with an iPhone.

You MUST use a DCAN WiFi adapter to perform the initial unlock. While subsequent flashes can be applied using this same adapter, for a MUCH MUCH MUCH faster method you can use an ENET cable with an Ethernet to lightning adapter. I purchased the xHP branded adapter to perform the initial unlock which took roughly 7 minutes to apply via the WiFi adapter, subsequent flashes/changes between stages takes about 30 seconds with ENET.

The changes are noticable, and what I would personally consider an improvement in every one of the stages. I have not experimented with any of the custom options but have tried the standard OTS maps which all seem to offer improvements relative to their stage.

Any questions whatsoever, please feel free to ask. Should hopefully have more feedback on the custom options after a few weeks of testing them out as it gets nicer out. More to come!

Thank you for taking the leap and doing the work to confirm for us!!!! Funny I personally would not have selected Supra (8-speed) HAHAHAH.... But I'm glad you actually confirmed what is what on their site.

I'm running the xhp on my 850. Not much difference unless in stage 2 sport plus. When in sport plus, the shifts slap nicely.

That I don't know as I don't do launches so I didn't care to adjust that parameter. There's some settings around lc though.

@jamodeo I’m thinking to do this but initially your comment about your friend shredding his tranny was a bit disturbing. So he flashed his software, ran a quarter, it shredded, or he was constantly bagging the shit out of it and the software was straw that broke camels’ back?

Any other comments about the flash from your own experience? Did you consider the custom option? If so, how did you customize?

Is your car more responsive to acceleration and if not, are you able to eliminate turbo lag from your assessment?

For compatibility, you just enter VIN as already stated. I called them early early this morning.

Does Supra use same tranny with S58? I guess I can look it up! lol

I was probably the M8 referenced with the shredded transmission. I fully built my engine and had the tune maxed out (975whp/950 lb ft.) for 1/2 mile runs. I raised the torque limits too high with xHP. I would call it user error. So long as you don’t raise the torque limits too high the risk is low. Especially if you haven’t built the engine.

I recommend it but would be sensitive to raising torque limits too high if you start building the engine.

I presently run their Stage 3 tune and customize the launch set up to launch in second. The shifting is noticeably more aggressive than the factory settings.
