I read an article last week stating it may make it to production as a low volume model. Er okay but that within itself likely means it will never see the light of day. No major auto manufacturer wants to invest in a low volume model. The ROI isn't there whatsoever.

Key operative phrase "Hopefully it gets built!". Hope doesn't build a car but rather $Ms of dollars in investment to build the manufacturing line, marketing research, etc. It's about a 50% chance that a concept car ever sees the light of day into full production. It's akin to the high tech manufacturing world I came from that prototypes had the same 50% shot. I worked on teams in which some made it but most of the time sadly didn't.

Mostly done. Concept is a slightly modified Z4 M40i. End of ICE. +/- 50 units @ +/- $250K. Maybe only approved for certain markets. TBD

That makes sense then including the markets although it will cost more than $250K to retool the Z4 line for it. Just like the 3-series touring BMW doesn't see a market for it here in the US.
