Land Rover Evoque Convertible

A segment even BMW, Audi and Mercedes haven't plugged, this one is a seriously good looking SUV.

I need to see this in person. I love the hardtop but I saw the Nissan version of this and nearly gouged my own eyes out. Nissan/Infinity really know how to make ass ugly cars.

I like the regular Evoque, I don't like this thing. Looks like an extremely obese car.

Pointless car. I like the Evoque styling and would like to see it follow through on the next Range Rover, but the Evoque is honestly tiny. I see it nearly everyday now and I've seen it parked next to a Ford Fiesta and its hardly bigger.

+1 Completely useless, I don't understand why RR built it.

The Murano is puke ugly, not something you can say about the Evoque.

The Evoque is a great looking small SUV which is adequate for most consumers. I am so sick of people having one baby then buying an Escalade EXT to transport the stroller. Most people do NOT have any need for a full size Rover so I think the car is actually a great step in the right direction. The only thing I wish they would do is supercharge it already. The paltry 4cyl doesn't match the road presence of the car and it deserves better.

Would you even call it an SUV at this point?

This a slightly more manly version of the Murano convertible. In the same way that Ricky Martin is slightly more manly than Tom Cruise.

Bingo. I love the Evoque when I first saw it and went straight to a RR dealer to check it out. I couldn't believe it when I saw the size. I'm only 5'11" and I could easily see over the top of it. Opened up the back hatch and I'm pretty sure you can't fit even one set of golf clubs back there. You'd have to put them in diagonally, the thing isn't wide enough.

Granted the interior is amazing, reminded me of a top level Audi. Love the sporty aspect of it, but it just needs to be bigger, at least the size of a Q5.

I ended up buying a WRX hatchback and it probably has 3 times the cargo space of the Evoque.

As far as the engine, they pretty much put a 4 cyl Ecoboost engine in it, which they also have in the Ford Explorer, so it should have plenty of power. Would be awesome to see what a tuner could do to it, or maybe RR should put the 6 cyl Ecoboost in there for a real kick in the pants.

Talk about diluting a brand. What happened the the Range Rovers that were capable of actually going offroad?

I am currently in the market for an offroad worthly SUV. Sadly the only real option is a Jeep Wrangler. Unfortunately in the US we have apparently become so soft that if a vehicle doesn't have seats wrapped in elephant foreskin and 15 TV monitors it won't sell.

No it isn't in my opinion. It cuts off the roof, which on this car, is the defining and unique design element.

To be fair, these cars did not sell well in the US so why would they bother sending them? It's the same reason we don't have an S4 Avant any longer. The Range Rover and LR4 are quite capable SUVs that would hold up very well off road but why would you want to take a truck you just spent $90k on into the woods? How many MB G-wagons do you think will even see dirt?

This is about as far as most RRs and Gwagons get from the pavement:

Without a ton of $$ on mods the LR4 is a pavement queen. I am one of those weird people that actually uses an offroad vehicle off the road. Expedition type travel is what I enjoy. The less time spent on paved roads the better. Currently at the early stages of planning a trip from the southern tip of Argentina to Alaska.
