What is your opinion about the Audi RS Etron GT? Looks like a solid vehicle, and for some reason is loaded with incentives. People report $800 lease payments on a $120k+ MSRP.

Although I have no use whatsoever for EV’s, and likely never will, if those are your two options I would go for the Audi. It’s a pretty nice looking car.

If it were between the Audi and a V8 8 series, however, it’s no contest—I’d take the 8 series every time. I like to hear and feel my engines.

I will say the same as TupperBMW said

This week I went looking for a lease replacement and went down the rabbit hole seeking a deal on a 157k rs etron gt

I stacked incentives
20k lease cash
7.5k fed rebate
5k Costco
5k Audi closing cash
Audicare to Inc residual

Found a worthy deal then decided to give the car a test drive to make sure I like it

Turns out, the car is absolute shit. Felt cheap on inside, panels were flimsy, absolutely no enjoyment to drive, didn’t feel ergonomic. Huge step down from Audi ICE vehicle quality

I suggest you test drive it before you start crunching numbers

I had it for 3 months and liked the ride but gave it back for an RSQ8. Wasn’t ready for the electric world.

Was fun to drive and the accel at 70mph is hard to beat.

Interior is blah and watered down to save on power. ICE RS models are much nicer inside. If I were going back to Audi it would be the RS7 Performance model.

I have the M8GC now and find it’s better all around except for maybe the ride stiffness.

I was piqued by some quotes I was seeing on this car (RS Etron) and the 800 buck a month deal was only on a 2022 with a unique 12 month residual of 114k. The 2023's are damn soft so after the 12 % triple net from msrp to full invoice comes crazy rebates like Mpop listed). My simple quote was on a 160k car and my net price is.... 108k Now at 108k that car might be worth it but I need to drive it too. I would not get an EV of course as my only car but I have quite a few others

Ive watched maybe 10 reviews on the RS Etron and several drag races on CW- fast car running 10.9 to 11.1 consistently and runs strong up to higher speeds but the build quality comment(s) here give us pause Im sure.

The last lease quote I saw (not the same as my above one) that was posted:

165k msrp
45k off (left room)
1400 a month for 2 years at 12k miles per year and zero down.

I would not choose the RS over an M8 but over an 840i?? I need to drive it

Apples to oranges IMO. Do you want EV or ICE?

quite possibly but that ship has sailed a while ago---

The 23s dont have a special 12 month residual so a more realistic pmt is circa 1300 for 2 years plus tax state dependent. Its still a pretty solid payment for the performance but most here are not going type that they would get or have an EV except for me (Plaid).

The 22's are very very soft already selling with clear CR's for mid 80s at the auction with lower miles. Even my offer on the 23 at 107k was probably too high. Get the car under 100k new and just do a 2 year walk away lease and let Audi FS take the hit.

I looked at the Tesla S. Not a bad option, however I don't think the interior wows me as much as the BMW 8.

I have 21 Plaid and the interior (lucky me) is well put together and new compared to the last gen S--- except for the seat rails. Its actually rather plush and a great GT car that will almost beat any car out on the road but yes its an EV but the speed is so much greater than what most are used to here that its is a great novelty at least for me.

Right now one get a new Plaid for about 94k with the right options. Elon has definitely fucked the early adopters like myself but I understood the pay to play mentality with EV values or the lack thereof.

The 8 guts are nicer of course and much more sporty-- the tech is pretty bad ass in the Tesla but I hate some of the haptic buttons and processes. For me, the Plaid is good 3rd car LOL.

I blow backfire pops onto EV’s with my R8 whenever I encounter them.

It’s just the right thing to do. I do Lord Revhighmet (the God of sports cars) proud. I’m one of his seven prophets

Were those on 2022's sitting on the lot? I know one can get a 12 month deal on a 23 but not with the 114k residual.

I was gonna actually get one but now I need to drive one and test the quality based on your review.

2023

One was 2023 AUDI RS E TRON GT 158k MSRP | $675 a month $1631 DAS plus MSD’s no tax

and other:
$158k 2023 Audi RS e-tron GT, 33.8% off 12/7.5k & AudiCare, $470/mo plus tax One-Pay

But when I called around earlier this month, they confirmed no 12mo leases. Sounded like they weren’t even aware of that being offered recently 🐠

Jesus

470 a month with one pay--- weird deal - I wish i could see the contract there as on 12 months thats under 6k in depreciation so to your point the residual was packed out of control.

You're not the first to make such comments. A buddy of mine traded his M850 Convertible with the Etron GT and yes it feels cheap, it doesn't even have a HUD which is stupid for the cost of this car! I don't know why people spend their $$ on these cars...

So I have rs etron gt and m4 comp xdrive
I also had m850i coupe so I think I can comment more accurately than pretty much anyone on here.
The interior is not flimsy, nor is it low quality, nor is it ugly. I would rate it on par with the 8 series if not slightly superior and slightly inferior to that of the nearly identical taycan. It loks very bland in black which i would recommend to avoid. Audi interiors in general are not exactly flashy in general so this is no different. The 8 series imo in black is equally bland. I personally love that the rs etron still has physical buttons for climate control and a bunch of other things. The only thing I would comment on, is that it is tight inside despite how big the car is overall. I'm 5'8" and 165lbs so it doesn't bother me in any way. The other thing is that the interior lighting is very understated. But the same can be said for any 8 series without a bowers and wilkins audio system. The Bang and olufsen optional audio ao good/great but the bowers and wilkins is definitely superior.
The audi UI in my opinion though good and very user friendly, is starting to look dated. Especially when compared to new BMW UI. The 8 series still carries the older tech so in this regard it isn't really up to date. However, I do think the idrive in the 8 series is slightly superior to the rs etron gt.
The car itself drives amazingly well for something that weighs over 5000lbs. Cornering is flat. Body roll is minimal. I would argue that my m850i coupe had more body roll. The acceleration is crazy. The car rides amazingly well. Closer to m850i than m8. Very comfortable car, definitely very different to my m4.
There's wind noise at speeds over 85 mph which I didn't have in the m850i.
I live in SoCal so charging has been a breeze. Put over 2000 miles on the car so far and my cost was about $85. Free charging from electrify america and free charging at work. I filled up the m4 yesterday and it cost me $95. I've been lucky with chargers so far. Only one electrify america that wasn't working in dtla. Others, the car was charging between 150kw/hr to 220kw/hr. Meaning to get to 80% charge (slows down after that to about 50kw) took 15 minutes max.
I personally think the incentives make sense. The car is absolutely not worth 158k. It may be worth 110k. So the incentives correct that. I got a 3 year lease and got a little over 42k off total. So it brought the car to a price that I thought was reasonable.
One final thing, if you care about your passengers at the back get the glass roof. Not only does it improve the interior, it adds like 2 inches of head space. I had to search to find one without the carbon fiber roof but with carbon performance package. Also, the audi headlights are brilliant at night time.
Edited to say: it does have heads up display. It's standard...
