Not just BMWs lately, this has been the case for decades in my opinion.

BMW puts a lot of subtle styling cues that don't make an impression in photos. In real life with the full 3-D effect and lighting the cars come out remarkably handsome.

The only Bimmers I've despised the styling of are the lame GT cars.

If the G82 is a smaller and lighter version of this it'll be okay. Love how the push start button is on the center console. Don't need to reach.

Looks Average To Me.

Come on M? You want to elevate the M8 to a higher end of the market where some truly special cars live but your design is looking pretty ordinary. The 8 concept with that striking front end should have somehow made it to the final production.

Instead we have what looks like a BMW Performance add on a showroom display car that you see 6 months after the initial launch of the base model 850.

How do you expect to get buyers away from Bentley, Aston Martin, AMG GT and the Ferrari Portofino? In this segment looks matter as much substance.

In the highest class this should be indeed a super sports car, instead of a conventional, heavy GT.
I also find that, as with the Z4, much was messed up between concept and series design. It looks like an overgrown M4 without having its sexiness.
I doubt this one will become an icon. There is just nothing special to see.

Am I the only one that feels like the 8 series looks like a mustang? I don't like it. The concept 8-series was of course the best looking. It's a shame they never put the concept bodies into production. :/

It's for 911 and corvette shoppers who want more comfort.

Gentleman's racer as BMW says.

Arrow New M8's 'Ring time of less than 07:29

skip to 04:01 for the lap time shot...

IF you watch the whole video you will see that Mischa's 'Ring lap times are about ten seconds off of past prototype cars. So it is quite conceivable that the new M8's lap times will be in the 07:18-ish area.

Does anyone else thing that the pinch line on the rear quarter panel looks different on the M8 compared to the M850i?

I'm wondering if this is why there is still camo on the rear quarter panels still?

I realise I'm probably super optimistic as BMW has never altered the rear on the M5/M6 but it would be nice

Those two cars have completely different design languages and proportions.

You are totally correct. I just wish they hadn't changed it. I know there are reasons, but it would be cool it they sold a few hundred of the original concept body styles.

Yes, I saw one at a dealership. I like the front and back, the side profile gives me a mustang vibe. Maybe I'm just crazy 😜

I see what your saying.

Yeah it's truly is a crying shame.

The new Z4 had the same fate and the 8er.

Is the M8 coupe still expected to the get trans axle set up from the M8 GTE car as mentioned early on when the 8 series was first announced?

Sadly that was always a lie I'm certain. It will be an F90 M5 underneath.
