Painted Calipers

Why do people paint their E90 single piston brake calipers? Colored calipers look good and provide a nice accent when they're OEM painted and when they're performance multi-piston calipers, but the single piston calipers that get painted along with the painted spring just look out of place to me almost like a M badge on a non-M car or a stick-on non functional hood scoop or fender vents from pep boys.

I just replaced brakes on my 335 and only hit the caliper brackets with a wire wheel to clean them up, though I should have spent a little extra time cleaning them better.

Nah I use to think like this but then I painted mine and it looks great and compliments the car perfectly. The covers are a joke tho. Now that's putting an M badge on a non M type thing.

+1 to black!

I'm not a huge fan of painting non sport brakes to make them look like they're something they're not. Even moreso sticking an '///M' decal on them! But, to each their own. If a guy wants to put the time in & he enjoys the look then more power to him.

I painted the front calipers on my F10 535i purely because the unfinished look on those huge single piston calipers is just hideous, imo.
Oh, I also went with Zimmermann Sport Z rotors (drilled) because I like the look. I have no illusions that they'll be providing me any better stopping power. I call the look: "Poor Man's Sport Brakes"...lol

Yes, black for the nondescript clean look over a slow fade to vintage brown mess.

The rotor hats also need to be black.

See that looks good. I'm cool with black. I have the vintage brown mess on both of my cars.
