I did the update today, start to finish. Downloaded the update to my phone. Started the engine and uploaded the update to the car, making sure both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi were connected. Upload to the car finished in 10 minutes and I shut the engine down. I was immediately advised the car was ready for the upgrade installation. Confirmed go to the install and about 20 minutes later the installation was done. Fired her back up to confirm the update was successful. Whole process was done in under an hour. Did lose previous Bimmercoding. No change to exhaust. Took her for a 50 mile jaunt and changed a few settings to my previous state. Knock wood, the whole process went off flawlessly. 2022 M850 convertible.

I basically did what you did, except lol well I had a christmas tree. You know is strange no settings on mine changed at all. Even remote start and ASS stayed same as last setting. But with the 4wd error it said still drive able I took it out for a spin but anything over 23mph and it shut down on me.... They just picked it up with the flat bed. Apparently they have about a handful of other cars same boat as mine. Anyone that had their build back in 22 sitting around for awhile have issues like mine?

I still can’t get the damn thing to tell me download is possible after engine cools down for 30 minutes. Then nothing happens!

Well I got the car back this afternoon. Looks like they had to disconnect the battery from the car as in like they are replacing it. Re initialize the battery back to the car, reinstall the update via connected service tool and now we are back in business.

Anyone with the pesky update reminder, can you enter service mode and go through the selections to see if that can be turned off in there. I was told today it can be made to go away and I assume like with oil reset etc it might be in that menu. If you don't know how to enter it take a look at this you tube video.

I really doubt you can when I changed my front brakes I couldn't even reset it with the way shown it just says reset not possible but from memory the only options in there are front brakes/rears/oil change/ brake fluid change and that's about it.

Ok so this is a new one on me!
After downloading and uploading to the car I’ve been waiting for my update to start since last November.
Just checked again today and a different message saying update not available now!

Then after a brief drive the status is now no upgrades available, still on 03/2022.52!
The upgrade has disappeared!

It's because how dirty the screens are....

I believe it does that when the car detects something that keeps it from moving forward with the update... At that point if you wanna do it, I'd stop by dealer real quick my service tech said it took him less than 5mins using his OB2 device. With issues I had it's hard for me to wanna take that risk again.

Ok, so post update! About an hour after my OS update had disappeared from the car I get an alert in the myBMW app that I have an update available!
Downloaded again and uploaded to the car and I’m back waiting for it to decide when it will be ready to update! lol

I'm thinking BMW is messing with you. Lol. Good luck this go around. If it doesn't take, take some additional photos of the iDrive messages then take it to your dealer for a newer iStep install.

Update on my end... still crickets. OTA has been on the car for a couple of weeks now and still waiting on whatever magic BMW thinks it takes to apply to the car. I've done all the tricks including diagnostic mode and zilcho. At this point I'm guessing I can order a new M850i and get it delivered before the OTA applies.

I picked my car up in November don't know if I have the latest software. In the car I checked for update and it said I'm up to date

When you are in iD7 and checking for an update it will display the current iD7 release. What's on the car now?

Done app updates, had the battery connected to ctek battery conditioner etc etc and still nothing!

Not sure if I had seen any references to "Automatic Engine Start" must be deactivated as a prerequisite for the software update to complete. I looked at the in-car manual and found this reference.

I think it means that the car can't be running via remote start, but I went ahead and unchecked the automatic/remote engine start within iDrive.

After a short drive and coming home and parking, I did see a message that the software would be ready to install after engine cooled. I then left the car for a bit then went back out, but still no prompt or indication that software would install. I'll check again today after the car sat all night and maybe take another short drive to see if I can get this to finish.

Will have to see if this changes anything...

Interesting as I've been waiting for weeks for the install. Going to give it a shot as the OTA update will wipe out the setting anyway. So nothing to lose especially since I don't remote start that often and in general it's during the 100° plus summer days here in the Phoenix area to cool down the car before getting in it.

My local Indy that does Carbahn tunes informed me that an update will wipe the tune....
