Question: Why can the BMW Designers nail the new M8 and the Z4 Kidney Grills? But they can completely screw up the rest of BMW's lineup. I can not understand that.

Point being, everything is subjective. I personally like the looks of the grills you mentioned. I also think the upsized grills on the X5 and X7 fit the imposing character of those vehicles, and I like the styling direction BMW is taking the rest of the lineup. So to each their own. |

Am I crazy or is there no comparison between this and any Porsche sports car. The M8 is not a sports car. It's too big. The size is more comparable to a Panamera. I mean the M8 GC would be almost directly comparable to the Panamera Turbo. ...just saying. Only thing comparable to a GTS is maybe the price but then if you're just comparing price you could bring any car into the mix.

The BMW M8 could have more than 600 horsepower
And if that number's not big enough, a forthcoming Competition model could have even more
https://driving.ca/bmw/auto-news/new...600-horsepower It’s no surprise BMW is building an M version of its 8 Series, even releasing the M8 GTE long before the production base model just so it could go racing. But now we’re learning a little bit more about the M8 production car and its powertrain. The M8 will use the same engine as the new M5, which means at least 600 horsepower from the 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 should be on tap. In the M5, that mill propels the car to highway speeds in a ridiculous 3.1 seconds from a standstill. BMW hasn’t said much, but we can guess the M8 will lose some weight, gain some rigidity, have a tuned suspension, and put the centre of gravity down low. Keeping it all on the road is a sophisticated AWD system that can be switched to rear-wheel-drive and send 100 percent of the power to the back for some slidey-crashy action. BMW now seems keen to offer a little more than what the “regular” M versions come with, continuously adding “Competition” models to its lineup with even more power and handling upgrades. Just as the M5 received a Competition model with 625 horsepower, the M8 is likely to get an even further hotted-up variant. The M8 has no release date, and it’s going to be expensive. |

I am guessing they are going to shoot themselves in the foot with the price. They are most likely going to get to 911 turbo s type pricing and at that price there are cars that fit this criteria "better".

As a few have mentioned , this looks like a 850i with quad pipes. I'll reserve final judgement when it's fully released but I was expecting a lot more flares , and slightly different body shape.
I guess we are all too used to being able to tell the difference between a 650 & M6 from a few miles away and it's just not like that anymore ever since they introduced the "M" badge at the front of the regular models. |

I doubt they hit turbo s Pricing. They may hit loaded up C4S pricing (130-150k) but not turbo s pricing which is after options going to be closer to 200k.
Even a base turbo is 150 ish and that is bare bones nada... After options, they also hit the 170-190 range. |

Or it might be an intermediary design - different from the M Sport bumper (I think Scott had mentioned functional vents) but not quite as bold as the Concept. Last edited by advantage20; 11-09-2018 at 06:26 PM.. |
