Remote Start Issue

Can't seem to get the remote start feature to work from the app.

Lock and unlock commands work, remote start states "something went wrong".

Privacy settings are all engaged and confirmed, remote start is selected in climate control settings, rebooted Idrive, removed and reinstalled App on phone, updated apps in Idrive......

What else is there to do other than go to the stealership again??

If you click the lock button on your key fob three times does the car remote start?

As always what iD7 release are you on? Could be a bug in it considering you have the privacy settings plus climate control set (wipes out in OTAs) to allow. As already posted check whether the key fob can do it (3 quick presses on the BMW logo/button) as if that works than it's the MyBMW connected drive app with the issue.

I swear, I might sell this car with all the little BS issues. For a car with less than 19K miles, this is not what I'd expect from a BMW.

I've tried selecting every single Data Privacy notification and I still get this BS pop up on remote 3D view..

If you have the default "accept all" privacy settings enabled then it sounds similar to an issue with the wife's original 2017 X5 in which connected drive from the cloud went "brain dead". It was iD6 and didn't have the wiz bang features of iD7/8 but I could always remote lock it when she forgot to or check on its location.

At one point it all went "brain dead" and to solve it I removed it from the app (still had the M850i configured), removed it from My Garage and the re-added it to My Garage plus the app. That got it t working again.

Thanks for helping. Just to be clear, remove the M850i from the garage @ https://mygarage.bmwusa.com/ and also from the My BMW app? Then add the 850i back to both?

If I remove it from my garage am I then going to have to call BMW again and provide them all sorts of info since I am confirming I am not the owner??

I did as you mentioned and re added the car in the order you had mentioned. Now the car is on the app but there are no buttons for lock unlock remote start etc....

This subscription notice wasn't there before...is that the issue? I need to PAY for remote start annually??????????????

Added the subscription...Still f'in says enable data privacy to use remote 3D view!

Lock and Unlock feature works from the app, but nothing else. Can a low battery in the car be the issue that I may not be aware of?

Looks like you worked through this by subsequent posts but it is an erroneous message as a BMW in My Garage doesn't prove ownership and no all you need is the VIN to re-add it.

That may have been the issue all along but odd you didn't get the subscription warning until the reload of the gar to the garage and then the app. Found your original post with picking up the 2019 with 3700 miles The original gratis connected drive subscription is good for 48 months. So you appeared to have passed that (set by the original in service date) and the app was just too braindead at the point not to notify you.

Mine is ironically expiring on this December (12/9/2023) as that was my in service date from the original lease.

I think that's because you re-subscribed and now need to just toggle the privacy settings again.

Never received an email unless it went to SPAM. I doubt that as when I removed the car from the account, I received an email from BMW stating just that.

I think BMW's weak-link is the software end in general.....
