Software 23-03 OTA

Hi All,

I am reading that a number of BMWs are getting an over the air update to the 23-03 software.

I was wondering if anyone with an 8 has received it and if they have noticed any changes?

Only release notes I can see are:

https://www.bmw-me.com/en/topics/off...ade-23-03.html

I know our Idrive 7 cars do not get new features anymore, but would be interested in Driving Assistant updates.

Thanks for confirming.

Out of interest, what software version got loaded onto your car?

I believe the latest for us is 03/2023.50 and dealers may be on .62

I got hit with two 03/2023.50 updates.
One update months ago, successfully installed.
This morning another 03/2023.50 update, successfully installed.
Did they do an update to 03/2023.50 and push it again?

BMW have introduced new security authentication into the modules so some of the BimmerCode features no longer work.

They are trying to work on a solution.

MyBMW app shows latest for my 840GC is 7/2022.58. My car has 11/2022.63 installed via OTA about 6 weeks ago. I initiated it from the car and did not use the app to transfer. Car says I'm up to date. But it seems some of you in the US market claim you have 3/2023. Hmmm. Meanwhile android auto sometimes takes 3 minutes to connect since the 11/2022 update and audio sometimes drops out for a second here and there. Annoying. I didn't have any of these issues with 7/2022....

Out of curiosity how did you initiate from the car? The manual states that is possible but at least in the NA market it seems impossible to do. Form my 3+ years experience having the car check will just come back with no updates available or the update is available but it still needs to be downloaded by the MyBMW app and transfered.

I checked for updates in iDrive and it found 11/2022 was available and began downloading directly to iDrive. Took a couple of hours but then offered to install once I shut down the car. Same happened when I was offered the 7/2022 update. This car is a 2023 840GC. However, my 2022 740i behaves like your car, requiring the app to download and transfer to car.
I read somewhere that during covid the MGU headunit went through a revision. Maybe the newer MGU hardware supports direct download? Just a guess.
