who is gonna buy a $180k M8 with a torque converter?
also wasn't there some prototype M8 a few years ago with those rear window vents that was speculated to have a transaxle gearbox? |

M5CS has a torque converter so does the new G8X which im sure is going to get a CSL variant and I doubt there will be a DCT just for that one car line.
Basically, this is the new normal for BMW and i'm sure they did enough market research to allow this.

I wish the side skirts were wider and resembled the M8 GTLM car. Otherwise looks great! I agree with the earlier posts, I wish the DCT was used! The grills would look amazing like this which does resemble the GTLM version.

Not a huge fan of the rear wing, but that exhaust note has my attention.
If Merc can offer a $180K AMG GT why shouldn't BMW throw their hat in the ring? All you people complaining should be grateful R&D cash is still getting pumped into ICE vehicles.

Do we know for sure that this is a M8 CSL protype?
The previous M8 test mule with vented quarter wondows was hinted by insiders to be a test mule for a «special model» like a 3.0 CSL hommage production version. Hybrid drivetrain in the rear seat area, hence the vents. The exhaust sound in the video is clearly not V8 but straight six as well... |
