Ran my M8 Comp at the drag strip yesterday

Even with AWD it wouldn't hook. The trap is pretty impressive though for a 4200 pound car, plus another 180ish for me. Not sure if the track prep sucked or the tires just can't handle the power, they are PS4s.

Here's a video of it on my second run and you can see how bad it spins.

My best 60ft in a '20 M5 Comp is 1.57 on a reasonably prep'd surface (it was tacky more than sticky so could've been better I think)--that run yielded a 10.33 at 132.4mph. If you factor an optimal 60ft into your trap, you'd be in the high 10.9s which is what most are seeing for stock M5/M8 Comps. Even with just a piggyback (like I had), these cars get into the 10.3s but warranty concerns with BMW are now a reality.

Nice run all things considered!

Thanks and yeah with a decent launch it would go high 10s, tires just wouldn't hook. I'm planning on doing a real tune I'm just not sure who to use. If I can get this thing in the low 10s I'll be happy with it.

Do you recall what your tire pressures were?

PS: my M8 used to light up the tires, too, so I replaced them with PS4s 295/30/20 rear and 295s front. No more slipping.

It has PS4s on it now they are pretty good but rhey still spin. Pressure was around 31, I left it alone. I'm going to put a pair of Mickey Thompson drag radicals on the rear.

That'll certainly help. Did the tires have any heat in them? Based on the ambient temp, I'm guessing not much.

No it was pretty cool, in the high 40s to low 50s. My best time was when I ran right when I got there and I'm assuming it's because the tires were still warm from driving to the track. I'm going to put a set of Mickey Thompson ET Street S/S on the rear and see if I can go 10s before tuning it.

Your tire pressures are way too high. Something in the 15 to 20 psi range would have helped you get traction. Some would say 10-15. Bigger contact patch would give you more grip off the line.

The spinning is wild, i have an intake, secondary cat deletes and a JB4 and even on map 2 on the street i am not able to light them up like that.

I recently did a few draggy runs to take advantage of the single digit temps and even then my worst 60 foot was 1.86

I might go back this weekend and try lowering them some and see what happens.

Wow that is crazy, not sure why mine was spinning so badly.

HOW FUN !! thanks for sharing. Pirelli's are terrible, they were showing cord after 6 track days, and insanely slow, almost comical in the wet.

However, they were perfect on the wet skidpad, I was never better !!

Michelin 4S is much better. Have TOYO R888 for the track, noisy when new, but lasting pretty well, and has good performance. Still not as good as TOYO RA1's I had on E92M3.

I have Kuhmo Ecsta PS91s on the car in 27* weather on the street in this run, traction fully off, brake torque to launch

Watching you spin like that with less power, better tires, and on a drag strip in the heat makes it look like it was just RWD

That's crazy. I had it set to 4WD but it definitely felt like the rears spun first and then the fronts kicked in. Is this system rear biased?

Like others have said, check the rear tire pressure. In a bone stock car with a tune only, I cut 0-60 in 2.5 seconds and low 10's. Even with the stock shite PZero's. Just needed to reduce tire pressure. It's the MOST important thing.
