Hoping it makes it way into the 2023 8 series.

ooof I hope that screen doesn't make it... lol looks like they found some off brand curved monitor stuck it on with glue and said there we are now almost Tesla....

Not a fan of the MPH RPM vertical gauges. But that's just my two cents.

Just slightly different than what's in iD7 currently.

Ha, yeah, slightly was a bad word, but with respect to them already being vertical gauges, especially if in m mode, it's at least a similar shape.

I'm not a fan of the look either, too dainty... I would hope that look is specific to the electric vehicles... I think the new 7 series is the first non-electric iD8 car we might see, though.

It looks cool and all and I'm sure has all sorts of cool tech, but we need buttons!! I don't want to have to use voice commands that take 5 seconds to recognize or wade through on screen menus to change car settings.

nope

I personally don't like it. too much like Mercedes Benz and Tesla.

I know some folks will like it. but I don't. I don't like anything about it from the screen, to lack of buttons, to removing the climate controls and 8 preset buttons, to moving everything to the wheel and voice.

Voice activation is a long way from perfect. especially with wind noise, children, background noises, and voice pattern accents.

I'm not a fan.

No button to turn off the AC? You mean the AC compressor or the entire system with fan completely?

To just turn off the AC compressor push the lower part of the middle A/C Menu button. The "A/C" icon in the display just above the button will turn off, and the compressor is then off. To turn it back on, press the lower part of the button again.

To turn the system off completely, keep pushing the driver's side lower fan speed button until the system shuts off. To turn it back on, press once on higher fan speed.

Bingo as the hard buttons can control the AC without iDrive or voice commands.

Spy shot of the interior of the 8-series refresh targeted for 2023. Bigger iDrive screen but no curve, etc of the iX as that is a completely different design. Rumor though is it includes next gen iDrive aka iDrive 8.

I want to be able to leave the fan on, but just turn off the AC and just let "fresh air" in. So which button? This is an M4 if that changes things. I know, wrong forum, but the lack of button issue crosses different models.

Now that is interesting that the M4 has a different set of climate control hard buttons than the 8-series. On the 8-series the "center button" is a toggle in which if one presses the top it opens the overall climate control menu but if you press the bottom it will toggle on/off the A/C with each press.

For an experiment I was able to save the heating/ventilation menu as a hard memory button (unused #7 in my case). This opens the menu with the A/C selection highlighted. Thus, this would turn into a 3 button push, i.e., memory button, idrive wheel and then "home" to toggle on/off the A/C. My guess is that it's at least 2x faster than the voice activated option with its ridiculous delays on your M4.

My wife is from Bolivia with a strong Spanish accent. When she tries to voice input a destination in her X5 it is a hilarious event to say the least. Same goes when she tries to instruct Alexa to turn on and off lights in the house which are all controlled by Lutron smart home and integrated with Alexa via the skill.
