Hey now, watch it. Don't go underestimating the little Neon that could.

Only a wee joke, nothing meant by it. Anyway with me changing from an M3 to a Jag you can only imagine the ribbing I've been getting.

It's true, those little cars are pretty fast, but as I told my buddy Mike after we ran head to head in my S4, "Sure, its fast, but dude.... Its still a Neon " He sold it a week later and bought an Evo Lancer which he proceeded to build into a 650 BHP Monster...

I always hate this comment. It's as if SRT-4 owners don't already know this. We know, we just don't care. We especially don't mind when passing some butt-hurt 'Stang, Camaro, or whatever owner on the highway. NOBODY likes being beat by a Neon, and that's the best part of owning one.

So would I. Does this mean your assumptions are wrong that everyone in here would take exotics over a viper?

Oh is that why you would most certainly lose to every SRT owner that I know?

I think Footie is jealous that a cheap car can kick his ass

I know, I know... I mean NO disrespect to the car or their drivers. You'd have to know my buddy Mike to understand that this kind of comment was solely meant to get under his skin . Good natured ribbing turned into a project car that was in the shop for 8 months being built and then he kept wanting to prove how fast his NEW car was. Of course, he now has a Noble, so who's laughing now

Anyway, the NEON is a great car, especially for spec class racing.

I would love to know the ages of both wiggyx and Robo Squirrel, it's just that both appear to be preoccupy with being quicker than everything else regardless of the quality of what they drive.

Maybe my years of the finer things in life have made me crave such things instead of the bare basics that the Neon seem to offer.

im 25, and i drive an E92 M3. I like race cars....that look good. I actually wish the M3 had less junk in it, but i like the styling/motor/handling. Its has nothing to do with age, just taste.

I still dont get why you like the gumpert, b/c it looks hobbled together....in actuality it may be well built with quality materials, but the styling conveys a sense of "cheapness" there is nothing "fine" about it.

When i think of beautiful + fast + luxury i think of Aston Martin. When i think of awesome go-kart style handling that still looks sweet, but has very little creature comforts, i think of Lotus.

Another thing I dont quite understand, is why you are getting a big, heavy jag, when you were bitching about the viper being too big and heavy

Someone over on the SRT forums was kind enough to forward this to me.

Quote:
Way back in 1987, Chrysler bought up a troubled Lamborghini, and within two years put it to work developing a V10 engine program that would eventually give birth to both the Dodge Viper and the Lamborghini Gallardo – two of the first ten-cylinder engines on the modern market. Two decades later, the tables have turned: instead of buying up struggling Italian automakers, it's Chrysler that's troubled and the Italians are coming to the rescue. And now reports suggest that the replacement for the Viper's V10 could be derived from Ferrari's next-generation engine program.

Chrysler's original plan was to sell of the Viper business, but since no serious offers came through, Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne is reportedly keen on taking advantage of the sportscar's standing as the company's halo vehicle. But rather than have Chrysler shoulder the entire burden of developing the next-generation Viper, the engine program could be derived from the same modular powerplant that will propel upcoming Ferraris and Maseratis.

Ferrari has essentially had four engine designs in its history: the Colombo design was in use from the company's beginnings all the way through the '90s. The Lampredi engine was used on a handful of vehicles in the 50's before being phased out. The Dino engine spawned V6, V8 and V12 versions and was in use until just a few years ago, while the current Ferrari/Maserati engine powers everything in the both companies' current ranges as well as the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione. Its 90-degree replacement will likewise offer variable configurations: a flat-plane crank V8 for Ferrari, a cross-plane crank for Maserati and a pushrod V10 for the Viper.

I'm 31. I have the SRT, an old and finally running DSM (2nd gen Mitsu Eclipse), and a Toyota Highlander between my wife and I.
